Personal interview guidelines
- 1. Personal Interview Guidelines
Having witnessed the Personal Interview (2nd round) of forty-eight students out of
around two hundred who appeared for the Aptitude test (1st round), I am writing
this write-up to emphasize on the sterling points to be remembered while preparing
to appear for a Job Interview.
The first and the foremost gateway is the Aptitude Test which I would point out to
be the significant part for acquiring a job in any company.
Talking about Corbus particularly, this first round test consisted of 50 questions
from aptitude test portion, and 30 questions from the technical portion for which an
aggregate of 90 minutes were allowed. Basware test additionally had a space in
which the candidate was supposed to fill the details of the major project done.
The technical portions of both the question papers touched almost every major
concept of Computer Science. The questions were basically from the programming
concepts & databases.
After this, the second round was pretty unsure 7 unplanned even in the minds of
the HRs. They first announced for the GD as second round, but changed it to PI
later on.
While interacting with the HRs of Corbus, I learned that they were actually the
masters of programming & had been married to it. “The person sitting over there is
a Java addict. He lives with Java, and will die with it. I believe,” said an HR
(pointing towards the one interviewing the Java background applicants).
Their focus remained the basic concepts of the technologies the students had
mentioned in their resumes. Almost every interview started with the very basic
questions.
Eg:
• How can we make objects of a class?
• Questions regarding basic RDBMS concepts.
• Terms like multithreading, servlets, jsp, swings, j2ee, string.equals, etc.
Basically, the questions covered the nook & corner of the fundamentals in the
programming concepts

- 2. Personal Interview Guidelines
One point worth noting here was that the projects remained the core focus of the
questionnaire. Communication skill was considered as an important part by the
HRs, but technical knowledge remained the first preference.
Besides this, I found that the psyche of HRs remains mystery until he/she utters it
out. It changes with time, mood & the person. Eg: 20 students from Basware
interview were eliminated just because of not having a good hobby. So, a person
should try to minimize the loopholes in his/her resume & words.
To put the entire story in just one sentence, I would say that a person appearing for
an interview should keep the basic concepts very strong, and the focus should be
shifted from the quantity to the quality.
