Susan asks…
What drug store sells fertility tests for men?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
There aren’t any over-the-counter fertility tests. You must go to a doctor who will order a fertility
test, give you a specimen cup, and send you to the lab.
The patient ejaculates into the cup, and a lab technician will examine the sample under a
microscope.

Fertility Testing of Men?
I am curious to know how many women’s husband was tested for sperm count before the
women were subjected to infertility treatments. I wonder because it seems to me that the
women are tested and all’s fine and they take fertility meds and take all kinds of really invasive
tests and procedures and it seems to me it isn’t until none of that works that the doctor tests the
man. Is this common with everyone or just the people I know? I think it would make sense that
when you know nothing’s wrong with her to test him before taking other actions… am I wrong?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Well with our Doc she mad us try for 6 months then did a fertility work up. It involved both of us
and she ran numerous test on both of us.

Male Fertility Test?
My girlfriend and I have been trying to conceive for a few months now with no success, she is
40, IM 46. I just tried a home fertility test for men. Both tests say I have a low sperm count ( <
20m sperm per ml). IM quite suprised by this as I eat heathily, am reasonably active, dont
smoke or take drugs, though I probably drink a bit more than I should. Also, I didnt observe the
3 day abstenance as suggested, more like just under 2 days, as a couple we are very active!
Any Ideas why I have a low sperm count? Maybe the test was just false or I didnt wait 3 days to

4. build up full sperm count, or its my age? All info welcome.
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
I would suggest going to the doctor and having a semen analysis done. I just wouldn’t really
trust an at home one. You may have done something wrong or it could have been low because
you weren’t abstinent for the suggested amount of time before taking it. If you have a healthy
lifestyle, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about, so just go to the doctor to be sure. Good
Luck!

5. There is a fertility test facility at KK hospital. Call the hospital and arrange an appointment. They
will give you the apparatus and advise you when to send in your sperm.
A fertility test for men is not as simple as say a pregnancy test so there is no DIY test kit
available. Even if there was, I doubt the results are reliable, so it is best to leave the testing to
the professionals.
Betty asks…
Christian men and fertility testing?
After a year of trying to have children without successing, I am undergoing various assorted
testing to determine whether or not I can. (My wife has a child from a previous marriage, so we
know everything is in working order there.)
In deference to the forum, I’ll assume most of you can guess what some of the testing involves.
And herewith my question: is there any conflict, Biblically speaking, in doing this particular test?
I mean, it’s not as if it’s for lustful pleasure … it’s a medical test, after all … but, yeah, you have
to make everything happen *somehow* …
Any thoughts?
Wilma – I hear you. “Mortified” is pretty much the word I’d use to describe how I’ve felt
through this whole process. And not just this one test, either.

6. Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Medical test – my hubby went through it. He was mortified. Our Christian Doc ordered the test –
so – I would say no conflict.
Best of luck in your upcoming family.
