Using Category Pages to Attract Google Traffic
These types of pages served two purposes: 1) to guide readers to specific topical posts and 2) Help
Google find content around targeted terms. Using category pages helped Pushing Social get top 3
listings on high traffic terms.
An Entire Month of Daily Posts
Posted new content every weekday for a month using 2-3 of my post outlines and templates. This
resulted in 5x increase in traffic mostly from Google in a 30 day period.
Picky Guest Posting
After I had published 100 posts, I approached top bloggers with a targeted guest post pitch. Landing
guest posts on ProBlogger and Copyblogger brought me 200-300 new readers each month.

6. 5,000 - 10,000 Readers
Started Accepting Guest Posts
Began accepting submissions from up-and-coming bloggers with established expertise. They wrote
excellent content and worked hard to help promote their posts, one of which was featured on Alltop
and flooded Pushing Social with new traffic.
Winning Awards
While some may hate award sites and top lists, I actually love them. In fact, I specifically targeted
Social Media Examiner’s top 10 social media blogs list and been fortunate enough to make the list two
years in a row, resulting in 6,000 new readers in that time.
Experimenting With Podcasts
I have a love hate relationship with podcasting, much like I do with working out. If I were more
consistent with it, I’d be doing much better. Regardless, it’s a highly effective tactic.

7. I’m Stan Smith, founder of Pushing Social.
I make my living as a business growth strategist. I'm particularly interested
in using social tools to achieve a competitive advantage. During my career
I've worked for Ford, Alltel, Mazda, The State of Michigan, Quiznos, and
many other stellar organizations.
I believe that social media and content marketing are revolutionary tools.
I'm stunned by how quickly one voice can be amplified into a torrent of
action. All you need to do is act. If you have something important to say or
do, then a well planned and executed content strategy can elevate your
podium above the crowd.
I will only deliver information that is relentlessly optimistic. I believe in you
and I will not let you do less than your very best.
My hope is that you'll finish every post with the drive to work, believe, and try
harder.
