2. Google’s 1st Major Update
Panda/Farmer — February 23, 2011: A major
algorithm update hit sites hard, affecting up to
12% of search results (a number that came
directly from Google). Panda seemed to crack
down on thin content, content farms, sites
with high ad-to-content ratios, and a number of
other quality issues. Panda rolled out over at
least a couple of months, hitting Europe in April
2011.
Panda #25 — March 14, 2013: Matt Cutts pre-
announced a Panda update at SMX West, and
suggested it would be the last update before
Panda was integrated into the core algorithm.
The exact date was unconfirmed.
3. Forbes among others found its platform shaking: Google when first rolled out panda, it
showed an example by panelizing Forbes Magazine. Reason they gave to Forbes owner was
“ we found little content and external links passing rank juice to the other site.” with a
snapshot highlighting what tweaked them to penalized Forbes . The very moment Forbes
corrected those things and asked for recommendation. This was only the tip of an ICE BERG
. Latter on many niche articles including Hub page got hit by this. No body had a clue as to
what was happening.
Sites got Hit by Panda
4. Learning's From Panda:
Low quality sites got revamped or redesigned as per the new guidelines of Google Algo.
Contents were seriously been written for the people who read them and got engaged within the
sites. Copied content, thin line content were scraped from the sites.
Duplicate Contents were removed.
Unique Contents were the talking trends for the Seo Market. Finally what was said earlier
“Content is King” came true, at least as far as Panda was concerned.
