 The Rigger assists in movement of heavy equipment
and cargo by calculating the size and type of sling
required for a particular lift, selecting the slings to lift
the load, attaching the slings to the load and assisting in
controlling the load as it is lifted by a crane.
 Riggers also select pulleys or blocks used for lifts, tie
knots to secure cargo and maintain rope as required.
 Riggers then secure all slings and ropes and store them
as required.
 Riggers use common hand tools, such as wrenches,
hammers and screwdrivers. They also use specialty
tools, such as rigging vises and marlinspikes, long
pointed metal spikes used to open the threads of wire
ropes in the course of splicing wire rope.
 Riggers also use wooden spikes, to open the threads of
fiber ropes, in the process of splicing the rope.

PSC RIGGER GLOVES
 Most of these activities indicate that only back of hand
protection gloves are not sufficient. The gloves need to
provide adequate protection on the palm side from
injuries. Conventional Impact Protection Gloves are
designed with back of hand impact protection in mind
and sometime wear out too soon due to tear and cuts
from handling the sharp edges of wire ropes.
 Project Sales Corp that brought in the concept of Impact
Protection Glove to India presents an exhaustive range
of impact protection gloves specially designed for use by
Riggers that provide the same back of hand protection
required as per industry standard but with a special
reinforced Duraclad palm.
 The dual-layer Duraclad reinforcements on the rope
channel of the glove to stand up to long periods of
handling rope and cable while rigging and can provide
in some cases 9x better than synthetic leather gloves.
Some gloves also have special reinforcement on the
thumb side.
