College English Reflection
If I would have to describe College English in two words they would be time–consuming. After I had
concord my first paper the concept essay I thought I was at the top of the world. Until we quickly
got the next assignment, the opposing viewpoints essay. My world has tumbled back down to earth
as I got to work. I chose global warming because I thought it was a topic that many don't know
about, but it affects everyone in the world. Once again, I made a readable plan to pick the two
sides of my debate on global warming, after made an outline that would convey the two sides of the
debate on global warming. Once, I had a stable outline I began to research and take notes on the
information. Then, when I had acquired the information I found suitable for my paper I finally started
writing a rough draft. Next, when done with my rough draft we had partners to do the revision.
Through the many hardships, I had to face such as rewriting multiple rough drafts, plenty
corrections that needed to be made, and the long sleepless nights I would accomplish my college
English paper again. There are still many stages of the process that were challenging. In short, I have
learned a great amount, about global warming and about writing college–level papers.
The readable plan was to give an equal balance to both sides allowing for fair arguments and
non–bias statements by my own accord. I had found out that choosing what subtopics I want to
contrast from my debates was slightly difficult. Since I

Essay on The Global Warming Debate
The concept of global warming has become one of the most widely debated and controversial
topics of our time. Scientists learned long ago that the earth's climate has powerfully shaped the
history of humanity. However, it is only in the past few decades that research has revealed that
humans have a significant influence on the climate as well. A growing body of scientific evidence
indicates that since 1950, the world's climate has been warming, primarily as a result of emissions
from the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of tropical forests. More importantly, an article
titled "Global Warming" published in the New York Times shows that methane, a gas that is emitted
from landfills, livestock and oil gas facilities,...show more content...
Sources for this paper include articles, books, and websites. Terms will be defined as the arguments
are presented. Scientists who believe in global warming say that global warming is the result of
carbon dioxide and other air pollutants collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket,
trapping the sun's heat which causes the earth to heat up. In fact, according to Amber Jenkins, site
editor for "Global Warming: Vital Signs of the Planet," meteorologists at NASA (National
Aeronautics & Space Administration) have reported that "Earth is the hottest it has been in at least
400 years, and possibly even the last 2,000 years. Studies indicate that the average global
temperature has increased by approximately 0.5–1.0В°F (0.3–0.6В°C) over the last century"
(Jenkins). However, CEI scientists have reported that there is no proof that rising temperatures are
linked to global warming. The Earth has gone through various periods of cooling and warming
throughout its history. The rising temperatures are simply the Earth warming itself up from the
previous ice age (Competitive Enterprise Institute). Contrasting with the virtual world of computer
simulations, the real world presents a very different picture. The EPA (Environmental Protection
Agency) website even states that: During the last 2,000 years, there have been departures from the
stability of earth's natural course

Our planet's atmosphere traps energy just like a greenhouse. Energy from the Sun can enter the
Earth's atmosphere, but not all of it can easily find its way out again.
What blocks the Sun's energy from escaping from the Earth? Unlike a greenhouse, the Earth does not
have a layer of glass over it! Instead, molecules in our atmosphere called greenhouse gasses absorb
the heat. Greenhouse gasses include water vapor, methane, ozone, nitrous oxide, and carbon dioxide.
There may not be much of some of these gasses in our atmosphere, but they can have a big impact.
Each greenhouse gas molecule is made of three or more atoms that are bonded loosely together.
These molecules are able to...show more content...
About 30 gases produced by human activity have been identified as contributing to the greenhouse
effect. These are sometimes called greenhouse gases. The main ones are carbon dioxide, methane,
CFCs and nitrous oxide. Sunlight reaches the Earth's surface, is reflected off it, and is prevented
from escaping from the atmosphere by this layer of gases, which acts like glass in a greenhouse.
Up to a point, the greenhouse effect is a natural process, and naturally occuring carbon dioxide is not
dangerous. Without greenhouse gases, the average temperature of the Earth would be –19C , in
other words, too cold for us to live. However, the concentration of the greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere has changed dramatically: since the 18th century, carbon dioxide has increased by 30%.
There is disagreement among scientists about the seriousness of global warming. Most scientists
agree that the global temperature is rising. They do not agree on more specific elements of the
issue: How much will it warm up? What will happen if it does warm up? How far are humans
responsible? What should we do to stop it?
Scientists believe that if we go on producing gases at the rate we do now, it is likely that the Earth's
average temperature will rise by about 0.3 degrees C every ten years. This

Thesis Statement : Global Warming
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe
that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and
have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern
changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very
passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that
are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go
beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the
destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the
increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from
the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of
causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors.
Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is
being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control
people 's lives and for financial gain. "Within the community of scientists and others concerned about
anthropogenic climate change, those who are skeptics are more commonly termed

Leading scientists advise climate change will cause increases to the frequency and intensity of
extreme weather events. Rising sea levels pose a significant risk to coastal communities, while the
world's oceans could become too acidic to support coral reefs and other calcifying marine organisms.
Climate change is difficult to communicate by its very nature. Greenhouse gases are invisible, and
their accumulating effects (e.g., global warming, precipitation changes, and extreme weather
events) can take years before they are felt. Worldwide warming trends are hard for the average
person to detect amidst the variability of everyday weather and the causes are far removed, in both
time and space, from the impacts. Climate change is thus an example of "hidden hazards"–risks that,
despite potentially serious consequences for society, generally pass unnoticed or unheeded until they
reach disaster proportions (Kasperson and Kasperson, 1991).
Council previously adopted the Eurobodalla Shire Council Greenhouse Action Plan 2007–2012. The
majority of actions (85%) were completed, are underway or continue to be addressed in an ongoing
fashion. Some activities include:
The continued development of cycle and foot paths and promotion of sustainable transport options.
3 solar power systems installed on community buildings.

Essay on Effects of Global Warming
Global Warming
Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth's weather. Global warming is also
known as the green house effect. Global warming is a very serious world issue. Most humans are
trying to do as much as they can to help stop global warming. Global warming has caused many
problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by
global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had
reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps.
Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as
melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly,...show more content...
On days when it was too hot for the kids to go out their parents would tell them to stay inside the
house. When the kids have to stay inside the house the parents usually want it to stay quiet. So
the kids would probably sit on the computer, got to sleep otherwise watch TV. This affected the
kid's daily physical activity. To help stop global warming everyone should drive less take bikes, walk
or carpool whenever possible otherwise you could buy hybrid cars. On behalf of those who don't
know what carpooling is it is driving with someone to a place that you are both going to.
Second of all, global warming has caused the ozone layer to start to break. The ozone layer is a layer
that absorbs the rays of the sun. There is a very big hole in the ozone layer. The breaking of the
ozone layer has caused the suns rays to come down at the humans very sharp. The hole in the
ozone layer lets the UV enter the atmosphere; it can cause skin cancer, general cancer in addition
to many more diseases to humans. There's a list of things humans can do to help reduce global
warming including; plant a tree, carpool, take a shower instead of a bath, use less hot water, use
less hot water there is a lot more to this list.
Last but not least, global warming has caused the polar ice caps to melt. The melting of the polar ice
caps will cause the sea levels to rise all over the world. If the sea levels rise just a metre

Climate Change
Since the mining of Natural gases and energy, Emissions of greenhouse gasses have been slowly
releasing into the atmosphere. This happens by burning the natural gases to create energy for our
vehicles or even lawnmowers. On Earth we utilize a lot of energy to maintain a lifestyle we know
and love today. But most forms of energy, cars and Farming produce large amounts of green–house
gases that can heat and change the earth's atmosphere permanently and cause the ice caps to slowly
melt because of constant heating. Industries and Electrical generation are estimated to produce "a
little over 50%" of greenhouse emissions, making it the biggest problem (Petterson...show more

cutting down forests in Brazil, as well as setting wildfires in places like west Texas cause
"carbons stored in trees" to escape. Individuals don't understand that in places like "Brazil,"
deforestation causes more emissions than "all of the world's cars." There are other forms of
greenhouse gases as well; like "Methane" released from "Rice Farming, Petroleum drilling, and
even cattle bleaching" (Friedman 35). Over "10 Billion" animals are raised for Factory Farms in the
United states. Burning Fossil Fuels for fertilizer creates up to "41 million metric tons" of Carbon
Dioxide. The Factory Farm industry contributes to air pollution by emitting Greenhouse Gases such
as "Hydrogen Sulfide, Ammonia and Methane" (DoSomething Web). Factory Farms is something
that can easily be changed by switching to smaller meat establishments, where the common public
already expects the meat to come from.
Some would say that global warming emissions are not something to to worry about right now
because it would take a long time to see a large effect. But in reality, any type of effect to the
environment we live off could be devastating to future human existence. We don't want to be at risk
later just so we can live our extravagant lifestyles now.
Energy, Cars and Farming are some of the largest forms ofGreenhouse gas emission. They create a
heated atmosphere that

Climate Change Impacts and Threats Essay
Global climate change, most commonly referred to as global warming, is a worldwide problem
facing our environment. Global climate change is simply a rise or fall in Earth's temperature over a
period of time. Although this problem has natural causes, the true detriments come from humans and
how we live day to day. Although many people have heard ofclimate change, there is not a big effort
to fix this problem or to understand it. The best way to rectify this change to the environment is to
help others recognize the causes of this problem and the effects they have on our planet. By
researching, one can determine their impact on the climate, as well as how to reduce this effect. To
understand how to fix global climate change, we must first...show more content...
It is also thought to be possible that the movement of continents changed the temperature of the land,
the air, and the oceans (encyclopedia of science). These environmental shifts have definitely played a
part in atmospheric changes. More recently, however, humans have had a much greater effect on the
earth. This all began in the late 18th century, when the Industrial Revolution was in bloom and there
was more need for factories and equipment. The smog and pollution coming from these buildings
was visible to all, and the damages were huge. This altered the composition of the earth's atmosphere
by creating much more carbon dioxide, and quickly had an effect on the global climate (epa.gov).
Even though each individual created very little carbon dioxide, when put together, the United States
created a lot. This is put best by Malcolm Gladwell, when he explains "we need to prepare
ourselves for the possibility that sometimes big changes follow from small events and that
sometimes these changes can happen very quickly" (11). To understand how much of an effect
humans have had, one must rely on the numbers and the experts. The industrial activities that our
modern civilization depends upon have raised atmospheric carbon dioxide levels from 280 parts per
million to 379 parts per million in the last 150 years. The [Intergovernmental] panel [on Climate
Change] also concluded there's a better than 90 percent probability that

The 19th as well as the 20th century have been the most prolific time periods in modern history as
concerns science, technology and socio–economic development. Within these two centuries we
witnessed the discovery of electricity, the invention of the engine which played a very important role
in the maturity of the well–known industrial revolution. Through this revolution people began to live
in a more decent and comfortable manner; new commodities were produced and entire new kinds of
industry were developed. Although all these inventions, discoveries and scientific breakthroughs
improved in an outstanding way our well–being, they also provided us with some troubles that
scientists had never foreseen or even imagined....show more content...
Increased rainfall may cause more frequent flooding and as a consequence the sea level may rise.
Scientists announce that an estimated 50 cm rise by the year 2100 could submerge more than 5,000
square miles of dry land and an additional 4,000 square miles of wetlands in the U.S.
Another huge problem that can be caused by the global warming is an increase in mortality due to
health issues. Changing patterns of precipitation and temperature may produce new breeding sites
for pests and viruses, shifting the range of infectious diseases. In such way we may probably
experience new epidemic strikes of diseases present 100 years ago.
Obviously, climate has a big influence on plants and animals in the natural environment, on oceans,
and on human activities, such as agriculture, water supplies, and heating and cooling. The effects of
climate change depend upon how much change there is, how fast it occurs, and how easily the world
can adapt to the new conditions.
The effects of climate change on people would vary a lot from place–to–place. Economically
developed societies, like those in North America, Europe and Japan, could use technology to reduce
direct impacts. For example, they might develop new crop varieties, construct new water systems,
and limit coastal development. Some northern countries, such as Canada and Russia, might even
benefit from longer grow seasons

Global Warming is due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring
process that aids in heating the Earth's surface and atmosphere. It results from the fact that certain
atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane, are able to change the energy
balance of the planet by being able to absorb longwave radiation from the Earth's surface. Without
the greenhouse effect, life on this planet would probably not exist as the average temperature of the
Earth would be a chilly –18 degrees Celsius, rather than the present 15 degrees Celsius.
As energy from the sun passes through the atmosphere a number of things take place. A portion of
the energy (26 %...show more content...
The now warmer atmospheric greenhouse gas molecules begin radiating longwave energy in all
directions. Over 90 % of this emission of longwave energy is directed back to the Earth's surface
where it once again is absorbed by the surface. The heating of the ground by the longwave radiation
causes the ground surface to once again radiate repeating the cycle described above, again and
again, until no more longwave is available for absorption.
The amount of heat energy added to the atmosphere by the greenhouse effect is controlled by the
concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. All of the major greenhouse gases have
increased in concentration since the beginning of the industrial revolution (about 1700 A.D.). As a
result of these higher concentrations, scientists predict that the greenhouse effect will be enhanced
and the Earth's climate will become warmer. Predicting the amount of warming is accomplished by
computer modeling. Computer models suggest that a doubling of the concentration of the main
greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, may raise the average global temperature between 1 and 3 degrees
Celsius. However, the numeric equations of computer models do not accurately simulate the effects
of a number of possible negative feedbacks. For example, many of the models cannot properly
simulated the negative effects that increased cloud cover would have on

The Importance Of Climate Change
Climate change has been evident across the globe, and mostly, it has impacted some areas more
than others. However, there has been a strong correlation that climate change has been linked to the
new threat to humans, diseases caused by vectors. The purpose of this paper is to examine climate
change and the spread of the zika virus.
One cannot shy away from the fact that climate change has been caused by some of the human–based
activities on the environment. These activities have been at an increasing rate over the past years
generated a wave that cannot be stopped by anyone since our natural environment is no longer
independent, but being interfered by humans. We know that different economies are trying their best
to up their game through urbanization, technological advancements, and globalization, however, it is
not all good at all since there are alterations in both the economic and social patterns on the globe.
Land, air, and water are the top most endangered natural resources in the environment since their
degradation is increasing each day and every night (McMichael & Confalonieri, 2015).
Climate change cannot be disputed citing the fact that it is real and basically, the human activities
are primarily responsible for these changes in climate. Most of the human population lives in
desperation and poverty citing that close to 2.5 billion people do not have access to adequate
sanitation, something which increases the prevalence of diseases in the areas they live.

You talk about it with friends and co–workers. There have even been movies made about it. The "it"

warming is a result of human activities, while others believe the warming and cooling of the Earth's

The world's population has doubled from three billion to six billion from 1959 to 1999 and is
expected to reach nine billion in 2040 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2008). Because of population growth,
there is increased consumption of natural resources. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
(2007) states that the increase in global temperature is a direct result of human activities and is the
most likely contributing factor in issues such as rising sea levels, melting of polar ice caps, and
increased severity of weather. In reality, global warming does exist and has adverse effects on our
environment. If human activities significantly contribute to increases in global warming, what are
some things we can do to minimize our impact on the environment?
Sometimes the smallest idea could have the largest impact. The following are some simple solutions
that can be implemented at home or at work. One simple way to tackle climate change is to stop
debating over the issue and start doing something about it (Lynas, 2007). Politicians and
organizations spend too much time and money discussing ideas to minimize or reverse global
warming. Some things we can do which may have positive impacts on the

Globalization And The Global Warming
Globalization is a concept that has raised a lot of issues in our ecology. Global warming (which is
the melting ice caps), elimination of species, pollution of the atmosphere and deforestation are a
few of the key issues that are causing a dominoes effect to create an inhabitable planet. In the debate
of globalization versus the environment, I, like Philips Legrain, believe in managing both in such a
way that is beneficial to all life forms in the long run.
The elimination of species is a phenomenon that could have been foreseen, but globalization has
succeeded in strengthening and hastening the process. Due to greed and the insatiability of human
beings, we have created consumerism which has caused producers to produce so much more than
human beings need or can consume. These products eventually go to waste on natural land masses as
well as the ocean, therefore affecting the lives of our wild life and exotic species. Humans are the
only animals who have a concept of the future, we know that we are not only affecting our own lives
but also that of the organisms around us. Scientists are aware of the damage that is being done to our
environment but the government of most countries, especially those in the first world countries do
not take it into consideration and they don't take it for the crisis that it is. According to French, the
government ignore the role of relative prices and externalities on the environment. This ignorance is
causing developing countries to deal with

The main basis of the movie, though, is supposed to be global warming, but the writers have

do agree that once triggered, it will have a massive domino effect; it is still unfeasible that eight
tornados would form over Los Angeles without anyone knowing beforehand. The Dick Cheney
look–alike vice president shows complete disregard for the issue even after being given several
warnings, sounds familiar, no? Although Hollywood makes some thoroughly laughable pieces,
there are some people who are willing to try to make their movies as factual as possible. Daniel
Percival tried to be as accurate as possible in his depiction of dirty bombs in the movie Dirty War
(Scholmeyer 261). In The Day After Tomorrow, the director, Mr. Emmerich, is clearly trying to
make a political statement, but not sticking strictly to the facts. In The Day After Tomorrow, there
are some scenes that make me proud, and others that make me incredulous. In the movie, the
destruction caused by climate change, the mass exodus into Mexico is an ironic twist that is very
clever. In another scene, the scientists in the movie seemed to all be completely shocked at the
occurrences; at the NASA research center, many scientists were just watching the televisions as Los
Angeles was ravaged by tornados, which seems

Global Warming and Climate Change Essay
Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural
process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy
from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The
gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous
oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to
be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any
greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the
earth. Global warming can and...show more content...
Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this
process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control. Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is
a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include
wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the
atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed
20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide". (Methane)
A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the
water cycle works. Places on the earth will receive more rain than others. There will be a great
amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the
temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other
people who get to much rain. While the temperature is on the rise there will be greater amount of
rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing
season for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more
money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could also hurt the farmers. There are some
crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There

Reflection Paper On Global Warming
In the first day of English 101 Climate Change and Multimedia class, Professor Sheila Tefft
assigned the class to write a self–reflection about our perspective on writing. I wrote that I use
recursive strategy, which is writing in the order of a thesis statement, topic sentences, evidence,
analysis, and conclusion. Knowing this approach, I thought I would be successful. However, I
encountered more challenges in this class than a success.
I encountered a challenge in the first major assignment, which was writing a research paper after
reading Mark Lynas' Six Degrees. In this research paper, we had to address our opinion on one
environmental issue, and I asked myself whether vertical farming could be a potential solution to
stopping deforestation in Brazil. The objective of this writing, according to the syllabus, was to
learn how to "summarize, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the ideas of others as we [you]
undertake a scholarly inquiry to produce our [your] own arguments." I exactly followed this step. I
first did a general research on vertical farming and deforestation in Brazil, analyzed the information,
synthesized the main argument, and delivered my thought to my audience, who are general public
and proponents believing vertical farming is the future of agriculture.
The challenge had started when I had changed my opinion from vertical farming can stop
deforestation to vertical farming cannot stop deforestation. It was a struggle to me, as pundits have

Global warming is the process in which the Earth's temperature starts increasing. This happens
because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas
emissions, this factors increase greenhouse gases, greenhouse gases are made up of carbon dioxide,
methane and nitrous oxide. The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns
warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay inside the Earth increasing its
average temperature. Global warming isn't the end of the world, it's just a natural process in which
the Earth cleans or rinse organisms.

Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix
with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers, and lakes and killing many animals. All of
theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of
temperature changes.
Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched;
these can also be called geoengineering. Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can
change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that
prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions
done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof less. But there have been some ideas that are
being use on a small scale like the iron fertilization; this is a process in which iron is injected into
the oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen,
this is one solution that seems to have the least side effects thanks to the reason I just presented
and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is
being widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of
gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of gases we emit, and there have been many
scientific breakthroughs like solar energy or cars that run

Global Warming
Global Warming, aside from pollution is one of scientists biggest concerns. Global Warming is
caused by the Greenhouse effect. There are 4 steps in the Greenhouse effect process. The first is,
sunlight radiates from the sun, through space, to the Earth's atmosphere. The second is, sunlight
enters the atmosphere and hits the Earth. Some of that sunlight turns into heat energy in the form of
infrared light. Surrounding air and land, which in turn makes the heat warm, absorbs the heat. Third,
the greenhouse gases trap infrared rays that is remitted into the atmosphere. Finally, the gas then
absorbs the light and is remitted back to the Earth's surface and warms it even more. Another cause
of Global Warming is the emissions...show more content...
Another event that would occur from global warming is the drastic rise in sea level. As the Earth
warms up, the polar ice caps will start to melt. This would put immense amounts of water into the
Earth's oceans. All cities along all the coasts would be flooded from the rise in sea level. This
would cause people to move inland, and with more people inland, it would cause a shortage of
space in some areas. With the coastal cities under water, this would cause a great economic strain on
the rest of the cities throughout the world. Global Warming would also cause extreme weather.
Today, action is occurring at every level to reduce, to avoid, and to better understand the risks that
are associated with global warming. On a national level, the U.S. Global Change Research Program
(USGCRP) coordinates the world's most extensive research effort on global warming. In addition,
the Clinton Administration is actively helping to address the challenge of global warming while, at
the same time, strengthening the economy.
On a global level, countries around the world have expressed a firm commitment to strengthening
international responses to the risks of climate change. The U.S. is working to strengthen
international action and broaden the participation from people around the world.
Communities around the world can help by trying not to emit such harmful gases

that the melting of ice masses leads to a higher sea level and worsening conditions for Arctic
animals, as well as other negative effects on the environment. Others do not agree with this. They
say that the climate is not changing at all and that if it is, it is certainly not due to human behavior.
The term "global warming" refers to an abnormal, increasing average temperature of the planet. The
average temperature has fluctuated constantly throughout the whole time the Earth has existed, but
recently the climate has changed in ways it has not done earlier, as well as more rapidly than it
ever has before. The natural reasons for the climate to change are still occurring, but with an
addition of some thought to be caused by human activities. The primary cause behind the increasing
temperature is according to NASA large amount of greenhouse gases being released into the air
when fossil fuels are being burnt. The higher temperatures are said to cause for example melting
glaciers and increased coastal erosion. The melting of ice results in negative changes to the
ecosystem of the affected

Essay on Global Warming
In this ever changing world of cars and technology the human race has forgotten to care for the
planet we live on. The earth has been pushed to its limits in nonrenewable resources."Average
temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) around the world since 1880,
much of this in recent decades", (NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies) fix citation –Matthew
Couch 11/12/09 3:32 PM. Global warming is affecting countries all around the world. Greenhouse
gas is one of the major problems contributing to global. There are many mechanics of global
warming the worst factors increasing warming is greenhouse gas. Which is the Earth keeping the
heat from the sun then radiates it back to space, but CO2, methane,...show more content...
Human activity of burning fossil fuels and deforestation has also increase the CO2 levels in the
air. The rising sea levels caused by global warming will cause our oceans to rise. The warming of the
earth has cause glacier to melt dumping their ice into the ocean causing a rise in sea levels. The
sea cover 71% of the earth with sea levels rising island and countries could be submerged under
water. Coastal areas will be more at risk of bad flooding during a storm. "Most climate change
models forecast a global sea–level rise of half a meter (over 1ВЅ foot) by 2100)"(Sea level rise |

relocation in the future.
The answer to these problems is alternative source such solar power, wind power, hydroelectric,
nuclear, and. Wind and solar use the natural resources around us and does not produce greenhouse
gases. Wind and solar is a free unlimited supply for us to use ad will help people save money on
utilities. Alternative energy will clean the air reduce sea levels rising and respiratory problems.

Essay On Global Warming In English

  • 1. College English Reflection If I would have to describe College English in two words they would be time–consuming. After I had concord my first paper the concept essay I thought I was at the top of the world. Until we quickly got the next assignment, the opposing viewpoints essay. My world has tumbled back down to earth as I got to work. I chose global warming because I thought it was a topic that many don't know about, but it affects everyone in the world. Once again, I made a readable plan to pick the two sides of my debate on global warming, after made an outline that would convey the two sides of the debate on global warming. Once, I had a stable outline I began to research and take notes on the information. Then, when I had acquired the information I found suitable for my paper I finally started writing a rough draft. Next, when done with my rough draft we had partners to do the revision. Through the many hardships, I had to face such as rewriting multiple rough drafts, plenty corrections that needed to be made, and the long sleepless nights I would accomplish my college English paper again. There are still many stages of the process that were challenging. In short, I have learned a great amount, about global warming and about writing college–level papers. The readable plan was to give an equal balance to both sides allowing for fair arguments and non–bias statements by my own accord. I had found out that choosing what subtopics I want to contrast from my debates was slightly difficult. Since I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay on The Global Warming Debate The concept of global warming has become one of the most widely debated and controversial topics of our time. Scientists learned long ago that the earth's climate has powerfully shaped the history of humanity. However, it is only in the past few decades that research has revealed that humans have a significant influence on the climate as well. A growing body of scientific evidence indicates that since 1950, the world's climate has been warming, primarily as a result of emissions from the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of tropical forests. More importantly, an article titled "Global Warming" published in the New York Times shows that methane, a gas that is emitted from landfills, livestock and oil gas facilities,...show more content... Sources for this paper include articles, books, and websites. Terms will be defined as the arguments are presented. Scientists who believe in global warming say that global warming is the result of carbon dioxide and other air pollutants collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun's heat which causes the earth to heat up. In fact, according to Amber Jenkins, site editor for "Global Warming: Vital Signs of the Planet," meteorologists at NASA (National Aeronautics & Space Administration) have reported that "Earth is the hottest it has been in at least 400 years, and possibly even the last 2,000 years. Studies indicate that the average global temperature has increased by approximately 0.5–1.0В°F (0.3–0.6В°C) over the last century" (Jenkins). However, CEI scientists have reported that there is no proof that rising temperatures are linked to global warming. The Earth has gone through various periods of cooling and warming throughout its history. The rising temperatures are simply the Earth warming itself up from the previous ice age (Competitive Enterprise Institute). Contrasting with the virtual world of computer simulations, the real world presents a very different picture. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) website even states that: During the last 2,000 years, there have been departures from the stability of earth's natural course Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on Global Warming Global Warming Our planet's atmosphere traps energy just like a greenhouse. Energy from the Sun can enter the Earth's atmosphere, but not all of it can easily find its way out again. What blocks the Sun's energy from escaping from the Earth? Unlike a greenhouse, the Earth does not have a layer of glass over it! Instead, molecules in our atmosphere called greenhouse gasses absorb the heat. About 30 gases produced by human activity have been identified as contributing to the greenhouse effect. These are sometimes called greenhouse gases. The main ones are carbon dioxide, methane, CFCs and nitrous oxide. Sunlight reaches the Earth's surface, is reflected off it, and is prevented from escaping from the atmosphere by this layer of gases, which acts like glass in a greenhouse. Up to a point, the greenhouse effect is a natural process, and naturally occuring carbon dioxide is not dangerous. Without greenhouse gases, the average temperature of the Earth would be –19C , in other words, too cold for us to live. However, the concentration of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has changed dramatically: since the 18th century, carbon dioxide has increased by 30%. There is disagreement among scientists about the seriousness of global warming. Most scientists agree that the global temperature is rising. They do not agree on more specific elements of the issue: How much will it warm up? What will happen if it does warm up? How far are humans responsible? What should we do to stop it? Scientists believe that if we go on producing gases at the rate we do now, it is likely that the Earth's average temperature will rise by about 0.3 degrees C every ten years. • 4. Thesis Statement : Global Warming Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future. Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors. Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control people 's lives and for financial gain. "Within the community of scientists and others concerned about anthropogenic climate change, those who are skeptics are more commonly termed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It provides the strategic framework for an effective greenhouse response and for meeting current and future international commitments. It will provide a fresh impetus for action by governments, stakeholder groups and the broader community and set directions for that action into the next century. Rising sea levels pose a significant risk to coastal communities, while the world's oceans could become too acidic to support coral reefs and other calcifying marine organisms. Climate change is difficult to communicate by its very nature. Greenhouse gases are invisible, and their accumulating effects (e.g., global warming, precipitation changes, and extreme weather events) can take years before they are felt. Worldwide warming trends are hard for the average person to detect amidst the variability of everyday weather and the causes are far removed, in both time and space, from the impacts. Climate change is thus an example of "hidden hazards"–risks that, despite potentially serious consequences for society, generally pass unnoticed or unheeded until they reach disaster proportions (Kasperson and Kasperson, 1991). Council previously adopted the Eurobodalla Shire Council Greenhouse Action Plan 2007–2012. The majority of actions (85%) were completed, are underway or continue to be addressed in an ongoing fashion. Some activities include: The continued development of cycle and foot paths and promotion of sustainable transport options. 3 solar power systems installed on community buildings. • 6. Essay on Effects of Global Warming Global Warming Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth's weather. Global warming is also known as the green house effect. Global warming is a very serious world issue. Most humans are trying to do as much as they can to help stop global warming. Global warming has caused many problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps. Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly,...show more content... On days when it was too hot for the kids to go out their parents would tell them to stay inside the house. When the kids have to stay inside the house the parents usually want it to stay quiet. So the kids would probably sit on the computer, got to sleep otherwise watch TV. This affected the kid's daily physical activity. To help stop global warming everyone should drive less take bikes, walk or carpool whenever possible otherwise you could buy hybrid cars. On behalf of those who don't know what carpooling is it is driving with someone to a place that you are both going to. Second of all, global warming has caused the ozone layer to start to break. The ozone layer is a layer that absorbs the rays of the sun. There is a very big hole in the ozone layer. The breaking of the ozone layer has caused the suns rays to come down at the humans very sharp. The hole in the ozone layer lets the UV enter the atmosphere; it can cause skin cancer, general cancer in addition to many more diseases to humans. There's a list of things humans can do to help reduce global warming including; plant a tree, carpool, take a shower instead of a bath, use less hot water, use less hot water there is a lot more to this list. Last but not least, global warming has caused the polar ice caps to melt. The melting of the polar ice caps will cause the sea levels to rise all over the world. AP English Language: Climate Change Erik Arvidson Mrs. Clark–Gonzalez AP English Language 23 February 2016 Climate Change Since the mining of Natural gases and energy, Emissions of greenhouse gasses have been slowly releasing into the atmosphere. This happens by burning the natural gases to create energy for our vehicles or even lawnmowers. On Earth we utilize a lot of energy to maintain a lifestyle we know and love today. But most forms of energy, cars and Farming produce large amounts of green–house gases that can heat and change the earth's atmosphere permanently and cause the ice caps to slowly melt because of constant heating. Individuals don't understand that in places like "Brazil," deforestation causes more emissions than "all of the world's cars." There are other forms of greenhouse gases as well; like "Methane" released from "Rice Farming, Petroleum drilling, and even cattle bleaching" (Friedman 35). Over "10 Billion" animals are raised for Factory Farms in the United states. Burning Fossil Fuels for fertilizer creates up to "41 million metric tons" of Carbon Dioxide. The Factory Farm industry contributes to air pollution by emitting Greenhouse Gases such as "Hydrogen Sulfide, Ammonia and Methane" (DoSomething Web). Factory Farms is something that can easily be changed by switching to smaller meat establishments, where the common public already expects the meat to come from. Some would say that global warming emissions are not something to to worry about right now because it would take a long time to see a large effect. But in reality, any type of effect to the environment we live off could be devastating to future human existence. We don't want to be at risk later just so we can live our extravagant lifestyles now. • 8. Climate Change Impacts and Threats Essay Global climate change, most commonly referred to as global warming, is a worldwide problem facing our environment. Global climate change is simply a rise or fall in Earth's temperature over a period of time. Although this problem has natural causes, the true detriments come from humans and how we live day to day. Although many people have heard ofclimate change, there is not a big effort to fix this problem or to understand it. The best way to rectify this change to the environment is to help others recognize the causes of this problem and the effects they have on our planet. By researching, one can determine their impact on the climate, as well as how to reduce this effect. To understand how to fix global climate change, we must first...show more content... It is also thought to be possible that the movement of continents changed the temperature of the land, the air, and the oceans (encyclopedia of science). These environmental shifts have definitely played a part in atmospheric changes. More recently, however, humans have had a much greater effect on the earth. This all began in the late 18th century, when the Industrial Revolution was in bloom and there was more need for factories and equipment. The smog and pollution coming from these buildings was visible to all, and the damages were huge. This altered the composition of the earth's atmosphere by creating much more carbon dioxide, and quickly had an effect on the global climate (epa.gov). Even though each individual created very little carbon dioxide, when put together, the United States created a lot. This is put best by Malcolm Gladwell, when he explains "we need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that sometimes big changes follow from small events and that sometimes these changes can happen very quickly" (11). To understand how much of an effect humans have had, one must rely on the numbers and the experts. The industrial activities that our modern civilization depends upon have raised atmospheric carbon dioxide levels from 280 parts per million to 379 parts per million in the last 150 years. The [Intergovernmental] panel [on Climate Change] also concluded there's a better than 90 percent probability that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay on Global Warming Global Warming The 19th as well as the 20th century have been the most prolific time periods in modern history as concerns science, technology and socio–economic development. Within these two centuries we witnessed the discovery of electricity, the invention of the engine which played a very important role in the maturity of the well–known industrial revolution. Through this revolution people began to live in a more decent and comfortable manner; new commodities were produced and entire new kinds of industry were developed. Although all these inventions, discoveries and scientific breakthroughs improved in an outstanding way our well–being, they also provided us with some troubles that scientists had never foreseen or even imagined....show more content... Increased rainfall may cause more frequent flooding and as a consequence the sea level may rise. Scientists announce that an estimated 50 cm rise by the year 2100 could submerge more than 5,000 square miles of dry land and an additional 4,000 square miles of wetlands in the U.S. Another huge problem that can be caused by the global warming is an increase in mortality due to health issues. Changing patterns of precipitation and temperature may produce new breeding sites for pests and viruses, shifting the range of infectious diseases. In such way we may probably experience new epidemic strikes of diseases present 100 years ago. Obviously, climate has a big influence on plants and animals in the natural environment, on oceans, and on human activities, such as agriculture, water supplies, and heating and cooling. The effects of climate change depend upon how much change there is, how fast it occurs, and how easily the world can adapt to the new conditions. The effects of climate change on people would vary a lot from place–to–place. Economically developed societies, like those in North America, Europe and Japan, could use technology to reduce direct impacts. For example, they might develop new crop varieties, construct new water systems, and limit coastal development. Some northern countries, such as Canada and Russia, might even benefit from longer grow seasons Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Global Warming is due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring process that aids in heating the Earth's surface and atmosphere. It results from the fact that certain atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane, are able to change the energy balance of the planet by being able to absorb longwave radiation from the Earth's surface. Without the greenhouse effect, life on this planet would probably not exist as the average temperature of the Earth would be a chilly –18 degrees Celsius, rather than the present 15 degrees Celsius. As energy from the sun passes through the atmosphere a number of things take place. A portion of the energy (26 %...show more content... The now warmer atmospheric greenhouse gas molecules begin radiating longwave energy in all directions. Over 90 % of this emission of longwave energy is directed back to the Earth's surface where it once again is absorbed by the surface. The heating of the ground by the longwave radiation causes the ground surface to once again radiate repeating the cycle described above, again and again, until no more longwave is available for absorption. The amount of heat energy added to the atmosphere by the greenhouse effect is controlled by the concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. All of the major greenhouse gases have increased in concentration since the beginning of the industrial revolution (about 1700 A.D.). As a result of these higher concentrations, scientists predict that the greenhouse effect will be enhanced and the Earth's climate will become warmer. Predicting the amount of warming is accomplished by computer modeling. Computer models suggest that a doubling of the concentration of the main greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, may raise the average global temperature between 1 and 3 degrees Celsius. However, the numeric equations of computer models do not accurately simulate the effects of a number of possible negative feedbacks. For example, many of the models cannot properly simulated the negative effects that increased cloud cover would have on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The Importance Of Climate Change Climate change has been evident across the globe, and mostly, it has impacted some areas more than others. However, there has been a strong correlation that climate change has been linked to the new threat to humans, diseases caused by vectors. The purpose of this paper is to examine climate change and the spread of the zika virus. One cannot shy away from the fact that climate change has been caused by some of the human–based activities on the environment. These activities have been at an increasing rate over the past years generated a wave that cannot be stopped by anyone since our natural environment is no longer independent, but being interfered by humans. We know that different economies are trying their best to up their game through urbanization, technological advancements, and globalization, however, it is not all good at all since there are alterations in both the economic and social patterns on the globe. Land, air, and water are the top most endangered natural resources in the environment since their degradation is increasing each day and every night (McMichael & Confalonieri, 2015). Climate change cannot be disputed citing the fact that it is real and basically, the human activities are primarily responsible for these changes in climate. Most of the human population lives in desperation and poverty citing that close to 2.5 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation, something which increases the prevalence of diseases in the areas they live. • 12. Solutions to Global Warming Essay You hear about it from television news broadcasts. You read about it in newspapers and magazines. You talk about it with friends and co–workers. There have even been movies made about it. The "it" is global warming. "Global warming refers to the global–average temperature increase that has been observed over the last one hundred years or more" (Spencer). Some experts argue that global warming is a result of human activities, while others believe the warming and cooling of the Earth's atmosphere is a natural cycle. Supporters of human induced global warming stress that since the Industrial Revolution we have released excessive amounts of carbon dioxide, a known "greenhouse gas," into the atmosphere and increased the Earth's...show more content... The world's population has doubled from three billion to six billion from 1959 to 1999 and is expected to reach nine billion in 2040 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2008). Because of population growth, there is increased consumption of natural resources. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2007) states that the increase in global temperature is a direct result of human activities and is the most likely contributing factor in issues such as rising sea levels, melting of polar ice caps, and increased severity of weather. In reality, global warming does exist and has adverse effects on our environment. If human activities significantly contribute to increases in global warming, what are some things we can do to minimize our impact on the environment? Sometimes the smallest idea could have the largest impact. The following are some simple solutions that can be implemented at home or at work. One simple way to tackle climate change is to stop debating over the issue and start doing something about it (Lynas, 2007). Politicians and organizations spend too much time and money discussing ideas to minimize or reverse global warming. Some things we can do which may have positive impacts on the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Globalization And The Global Warming Globalization is a concept that has raised a lot of issues in our ecology. Global warming (which is the melting ice caps), elimination of species, pollution of the atmosphere and deforestation are a few of the key issues that are causing a dominoes effect to create an inhabitable planet. In the debate of globalization versus the environment, I, like Philips Legrain, believe in managing both in such a way that is beneficial to all life forms in the long run. The elimination of species is a phenomenon that could have been foreseen, but globalization has succeeded in strengthening and hastening the process. Due to greed and the insatiability of human beings, we have created consumerism which has caused producers to produce so much more than human beings need or can consume. These products eventually go to waste on natural land masses as well as the ocean, therefore affecting the lives of our wild life and exotic species. Humans are the only animals who have a concept of the future, we know that we are not only affecting our own lives but also that of the organisms around us. Scientists are aware of the damage that is being done to our environment but the government of most countries, especially those in the first world countries do not take it into consideration and they don't take it for the crisis that it is. According to French, the government ignore the role of relative prices and externalities on the environment. This ignorance is causing developing countries to deal with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Global Warming and the Media Essay Global Warming and the Media In this paper I will show that the issues of global warming have been misrepresented by some and cleverly utilized by others, (Y) by giving an overview of global warming as it is portrayed by the media, (Z) so that people will learn to search for scientific information regarding important issues for themselves. (P1) The media's constant over–coverage of global warming is desensitizing the public to the very real problem of global warming. (P2) In the movies, An Inconvenient Truth and The Day After Tomorrow, global warming was portrayed in two very different ways. Desensitization and Demoralization As American citizens, we are bombarded everyday with information about the world. Because global warming...show more content... The main basis of the movie, though, is supposed to be global warming, but the writers have added some absolutely incorrect "facts." Some of the "facts" include the idea that mass global warming would occur in just a few days with almost no warning which is ridiculous (Kolbert 55). I do agree that once triggered, it will have a massive domino effect; it is still unfeasible that eight tornados would form over Los Angeles without anyone knowing beforehand. The Dick Cheney look–alike vice president shows complete disregard for the issue even after being given several warnings, sounds familiar, no? Although Hollywood makes some thoroughly laughable pieces, there are some people who are willing to try to make their movies as factual as possible. Daniel Percival tried to be as accurate as possible in his depiction of dirty bombs in the movie Dirty War (Scholmeyer 261). In The Day After Tomorrow, the director, Mr. Emmerich, is clearly trying to make a political statement, but not sticking strictly to the facts. In The Day After Tomorrow, there are some scenes that make me proud, and others that make me incredulous. In the movie, the destruction caused by climate change, the mass exodus into Mexico is an ironic twist that is very clever. In another scene, the scientists in the movie seemed to all be completely shocked at the occurrences; at the NASA research center, many scientists were just watching the televisions as Los Angeles was ravaged by tornados, which seems Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Global Warming and Climate Change Essay Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the earth. Global warming can and...show more content... Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control. Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed 20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide". (Methane) A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the water cycle works. Places on the earth will receive more rain than others. There will be a great amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other people who get to much rain. While the temperature is on the rise there will be greater amount of rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing season for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could also hurt the farmers. There are some crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Reflection Paper On Global Warming In the first day of English 101 Climate Change and Multimedia class, Professor Sheila Tefft assigned the class to write a self–reflection about our perspective on writing. I wrote that I use recursive strategy, which is writing in the order of a thesis statement, topic sentences, evidence, analysis, and conclusion. Knowing this approach, I thought I would be successful. However, I encountered more challenges in this class than a success. I encountered a challenge in the first major assignment, which was writing a research paper after reading Mark Lynas' Six Degrees. In this research paper, we had to address our opinion on one environmental issue, and I asked myself whether vertical farming could be a potential solution to stopping deforestation in Brazil. The objective of this writing, according to the syllabus, was to learn how to "summarize, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the ideas of others as we [you] undertake a scholarly inquiry to produce our [your] own arguments." I exactly followed this step. I first did a general research on vertical farming and deforestation in Brazil, analyzed the information, synthesized the main argument, and delivered my thought to my audience, who are general public and proponents believing vertical farming is the future of agriculture. The challenge had started when I had changed my opinion from vertical farming can stop deforestation to vertical farming cannot stop deforestation. It was a struggle to me, as pundits have already proven Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Global Warming Essay Global warming is the process in which the Earth's temperature starts increasing. This happens because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions, this factors increase greenhouse gases, greenhouse gases are made up of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay inside the Earth increasing its average temperature. Global warming isn't the end of the world, it's just a natural process in which the Earth cleans or rinse organisms. Now a days the Automobiles, heat from homes and businesses, and factories are responsible for about 80% of today's carbon dioxide...show more content... Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers, and lakes and killing many animals. All of theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of temperature changes. Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched; these can also be called geoengineering. Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof less. But there have been some ideas that are being use on a small scale like the iron fertilization; this is a process in which iron is injected into the oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, this is one solution that seems to have the least side effects thanks to the reason I just presented and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is being widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of gases we emit, and there have been many scientific breakthroughs like solar energy or cars that run Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Essay on Global Warming Global Warming Global Warming, aside from pollution is one of scientists biggest concerns. Global Warming is caused by the Greenhouse effect. There are 4 steps in the Greenhouse effect process. The first is, sunlight radiates from the sun, through space, to the Earth's atmosphere. The second is, sunlight enters the atmosphere and hits the Earth. Some of that sunlight turns into heat energy in the form of infrared light. Surrounding air and land, which in turn makes the heat warm, absorbs the heat. Third, the greenhouse gases trap infrared rays that is remitted into the atmosphere. Finally, the gas then absorbs the light and is remitted back to the Earth's surface and warms it even more. Another cause of Global Warming is the emissions...show more content... Another event that would occur from global warming is the drastic rise in sea level. As the Earth warms up, the polar ice caps will start to melt. This would put immense amounts of water into the Earth's oceans. All cities along all the coasts would be flooded from the rise in sea level. This would cause people to move inland, and with more people inland, it would cause a shortage of space in some areas. With the coastal cities under water, this would cause a great economic strain on the rest of the cities throughout the world. Global Warming would also cause extreme weather. Today, action is occurring at every level to reduce, to avoid, and to better understand the risks that are associated with global warming. On a national level, the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) coordinates the world's most extensive research effort on global warming. In addition, the Clinton Administration is actively helping to address the challenge of global warming while, at the same time, strengthening the economy. On a global level, countries around the world have expressed a firm commitment to strengthening international responses to the risks of climate change. The U.S. is working to strengthen international action and broaden the participation from people around the world. Communities around the world can help by trying not to emit such harmful gases Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Some people say global warming is caused by human activity, others say global warming doesn't even exist. Some people claim that the climate is changing for the worse. They believe that humans are the primary cause of these changes, especially the increase in temperature, caused by the burning of fossil fuels. They believe that the temperature changes are causing glaciers to melt. They claim that the melting of ice masses leads to a higher sea level and worsening conditions for Arctic animals, as well as other negative effects on the environment. Others do not agree with this. They say that the climate is not changing at all and that if it is, it is certainly not due to human behavior. The term "global warming" refers to an abnormal, increasing average temperature of the planet. The average temperature has fluctuated constantly throughout the whole time the Earth has existed, but recently the climate has changed in ways it has not done earlier, as well as more rapidly than it ever has before. The natural reasons for the climate to change are still occurring, but with an addition of some thought to be caused by human activities. The primary cause behind the increasing temperature is according to NASA large amount of greenhouse gases being released into the air when fossil fuels are being burnt. The higher temperatures are said to cause for example melting glaciers and increased coastal erosion. The melting of ice results in negative changes to the ecosystem of the affected Get more content on HelpWriting.net
