1. HIGH QUALITY - HIGH THROUGHPUT
DNA ANALYSIS
Keywords DNA analysis, forensic analysis, DNA sequencing, high throughput automated DNA
analysis, ISO 17025 accreditation
Background
DNA analysis has become the backbone for research and testing on all living organisms. The
molecular biology technology applied is similar for all species and purposes.
Description
GENA (Genetic Analysis) was established in Stavanger in 2005 primarily as a supplement to
the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Oslo. The establishment received public
funding through Innovation Norway and SIVA. Primary investors are the founders of the
Skagen Funds.
Applications and benefits
GENA has a modern, high capasity laboratory
accredited for forensic DNA analysis. However,
the facilites and instrumentation is well suited for
DNA analysis for a wide range of applications.
GENA provides rapid high-throughput forensic
DNA services. The laboratory analyses are
facilitated through up-to-date, automated and
sensitive technology. GENA’s LIMS (Laboratory
Management Information System) track the
samples from registration and bar-coding through
to the report.
Status
- ISO 17025 accredited laboratory providing forensic DNA services to the Norwegian
criminal justice system and private kinship analysis
- Experience with DNA-reseach cooperation projects within the areas of bacterial
sequencing, human disease testing, and acquaculture species identification
We are considering expanding our DNA testing services, and are seeking
research and/or business partners within all areas of biological testing
