6. THE IMPERIAL (S D TOWERS):
The Imperial is located in Tardeo, Mumbai. Imperial Towers,
designed by Mumbai architect Hafeez Contractor as his most
recognizable project to date, were designed as Mumbai’s
tallest towers.
The Imperial Twin Towers are built on former slum land
where the current re-development model of builders
providing free land and rehabilitation to slum dwellers in
exchange for rights for property development, was first
put into practice on a big scale.
7. Imperial offers sea-views by virtue of its height,
and a resort-like gardens and fountains on top of
the parking-structure podium, with hanging
gardens that mask the structure itself.
While shortly into its construction, it lost the
“India’s tallest” tag to Lodha Bellissimo (though
only in the comparison of roof height vs. highest
liveable floor, like Sears Towers did to Petronas).
8. LAKE CASTLE, POWAI :
Lake castle a residential apartment
building nested in green surrounding
of powai, just a few miles away
from main Bombay
The dominant feature of Lake castle is its
massive scale of 183 m. Linear length, strikes
you as an ocean ship going linear of a building
with multiple decks anchored on the banks of powai lake.
Tower block is surrounded by large garden and 8 acre forest
park, all the flats faces the lake.
9. The architectural form is mean to symbolize a city silhouette
that is made of a varying shapes and sizes.
The building is almost like a mirror reflecting the densely
layered profile of the city. French windows are repetitive
features on the facades.
The crescent shape projecting balconies, curved projection and
egyptian columns on the facades relieve the monotony into
which building would have otherwise slipped .
15. Hafeez is full of surprising and revolutionary ideas. His uncanny ability
to change his architectural style from one commission to next is also a
significant reason why his work is sought after by so many.
He picks elements from various typologies and use them as
adornments for the exterior skin of the building
Hafeez is full of surprising and revolutionary ideas. His uncanny ability
to change his architectural style from one commission to next is also a
significant reason why his work is sought after by so many.
He believes that your building should really reflect your socio-
economic and climatic relations.
