2. Background
• PTNNT’s community development program vision was to
create an autonomous and prosperous
community at Batu Hijau even after mine closure.
• Community development program at PTNNT was
designed to create a self-sufficient community equipped
to thrive beyond one’s life time.
• How to empower the community through the
community development program at Batu Hijau, so that
the community could improve their sustainability after
mine closure.

• Mining activities have influenced the development of the
company and its environment whether in a positive or
negative way.
• PTNNT had already implemented a detailed analysis for
the development activities at Batu Hijau.
• For the environment development around Batu Hijau
Area, PTNNT had analyzed the environmentally preferred
alternatives prior to its active operation, known as
AMDAL.
• The result of the analysis was documented and approved
by the GOI before its implementation
6. CSR Activities (2)
• PTNNT conducted environment management to ensure
that potential impacts to the environment were
minimized to the greatest extent possible.
• Environment development activities implemented by
PTNNT were Tailing Management, Water Quality
Management, Changing the landscape Management.
• PTNNT develop partnership with the communities and
government to conduct beach cleanup, turtle
conservation, coral reef rehabilitation and conservation.
