Advocacy has originated from a Latin word: ‘Ad’ means on
‘behalf of’; ‘voca’ means ‘to express / talk’
It can be defined as..
a deliberate planned and sustained effort to advance an
agenda for a change.
Advocacy consists of…
organized efforts and actions that use the tools of democracy
to establish and implement laws and policies so as to create a just
and equitable society. These tools include lobbying, negotiation,
bargaining, mass mobilization, civil action (including civil
disobedience), court actions and holding of elections.
