9. Intrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic motivation reflects the desire to do
something because it is enjoyable. If we are
intrinsically motivated, we would not be worried about
external rewards such as praise or awards. If we are
intrinsically motivated, the enjoyment we experience
would be sufficient for us to want to perform the
activity in the future
10. Examples of Intrinsic
Motivation
Writing short stories because you really enjoy
writing them, reading a nonfiction book because
you are curious about the topic, and playing chess
because you enjoy effortful thinking are some
intrinsic motivation examples.
11. Extrinsic Motivation
Extrinsic motivation reflects the desire to do
something because of external rewards such
as awards, money, and praise. People who
are extrinsically motivated may not enjoy
certain activities. They may only wish to
engage in certain activities because they
wish to receive some external reward.
12. Examples of Extrinsic Motivation
There are many possible extrinsic motivation examples.
The writer who only writes poems to be submitted
to poetry contests would be one example of extrinsic
motivation.
The person who dislikes sales but accepts a sales
position because he or she desires to earn an above
average salary is another example of extrinsic
motivation.

20. A POEM OF MOTIVATION
When things go wrong as they sometimes
will,
When the road you're trudging seems all
uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it
out:
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you must
not quit.
21. Short-term
A goal that can be achieved in a relative short period
of time

Ex: Great success in career

can not.
