13. The medium of education in India is mostly English in all the cities and towns. Most of the
Education system is run by the Franciscan, Jesuit, Dominican, Augustianian priests and
nuns. The specific mission of these institutions is the Christian formation of the students,
i.e. the training in Christian values enriching creativity and love of learning, right attitudes
and interests and essential skills.
The Catholic missionaries took to establishing schools, hospitals, and charitable institutions
such as nursing homes, orphanages, and dispensaries.
