• A Government Company jointly promoted by
Government of India and Government of
Delhi.
• Incorporated in May 1995, under the name
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC).
• The two Governments have 50% shares
each in this Corporation
• Has the responsibility for construction and
operation of Delhi Metro

ADVANTAGES OF METRO SYSTEM
• Has a carrying capacity as high as 60,000 –
80,000 phpdt (peak hour peak direction
traffic).
• Requires 1/5th energy per passenger km.

• Causes no air pollution in the city and
lesser noise levels
• Occupies no road space if underground
and only about 2 metre width of the road,
along central median, if elevated.
