2. O magnum mysterium,
et admirabile sacramentum,
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum
iacentem in praesepio.
O beata virgo,
cuius viscera meruerunt
portare Dominum Christum.
A great mystery,
a wonderful promise beckoning us—
that the animals can see the new born King
lying in the crib!
How blessed the virgin,
whose body could worthily bear
the new born Christ the Lord!
