The main image is a medium shot of the main character of the film, with
his name captioned above him, as he is a very well known actor which
instantly attracts an existing audience. The image appears to be washed
out and colours have been editing to almost look ice cold and ‘ghostly’,
his facial expressions indicate his fear towards something looking quite
disturbed about it, with his face looking very tense.
The image is centred and appears to be place within an isolated area from
which the audience can observed via the background of the image. His
clothing displays as if he has attended a funeral appearing very formal
like.
His eyes are a very deep blue which can connate to the character perhaps
hiding emotions and deep secrets which would unveil in the film.
3. Background
The background is very intense within this poster with a lot going on.We see a women ‘in black’
who appears to be standing in a graveyard which can be indicated by the cross we see next to
her, this image almost makes your spine shiver looking very sinister like .The background
portrays fear and isolation and that once trapped it is impossible to get out, with the misty,
gloomy clouds covering and stopping light from entering could connate to there being evil
trapped inside.
The stormy sky creates a sense of fear or warning that something bad is about to happen,
almost foreshadowing upcoming destruction.
The house on the left side of the poster could be where all the action takes place, making the
audience think whether the character lives there with the evil spirit. The ghostly black figure
implies darkness to the poster with the sense of lurking evil shadows.
The overall colour theme shown in the background and throughout the poster is very dark
suggesting powerfulness in a negative way.
As a dark fantasy subgenre the background displays very artistic, and cinematic elements
displaying frightening themes of fantasy. The atmosphere, strongly brings about a sense
of horror and dread.
