The ribbon provides navigation and controls for Necto 16. It consists of categories like Home, Workboard, Insights, etc. Each category contains icons for common tasks in that area, like creating a new workboard, exploring insights, formatting visuals, and more. The ribbon allows customizable organization and hiding of categories to optimize workspace.

3. Ribbon’s Look & Feel
• The Ribbon fosters familiarity from Microsoft ribbon’s structure
• Navigation through categories is flexible and simple
• Ribbon can be hidden at any point to free up space
• Ribbon can be customized (which categories to display and which are
not, which icons to show and which to remove)

5. Ribbon – Home
Available only at Necto’s home page
• New – opens wizard screen that enables the user to create workboard: create a workboard with data, find insights, create
a blank workboard
• Recent – displays up to 12 recent workboards that were used
• Favorites – displays up to 12 favorites workboards that were saved by the user as a “Favorite” workboard
• Relevant – displays up to 12 relevant workboards that are similar with their context to each other
• Discussion – displays up to 12 discussions that were communicated between the user to other users friends in Necto
• Subscriptions – displays up to 12 subscriptions the user had decided to track on other users actions occurred in Necto
• Info Pane – Opens/ Closes the left pane user’s info: user’s profile, areas of interests (topics) and user’s friends
• Show wizards – opens the Workboard Wizard for creating a new workboard
• Coverflow – displays up to 12 workboards as a coverflow display
• Carousel – displays up to 12 workboards as a carousel display
• Tiles - displays up to 12 workboards as a tile display
• Hide my activities – Hide user’s latest activities in Necto (not recorded for the auditing model).
6. Ribbon – Workboard
Available when a workboard is opened
• Explore – opens public, private and shared folders where user’s workboards are located
• Recent – displays up to 15 recent workboards that were previously opened
• Favorites – displays up to 15 favorites workboards that were saved by the user as a “Favorite” workboard
• New – opens wizard screen that enables the user to create workboard: create a workboard with data, find insights, create
a blank workboard
• Actions – view available actions that were created on the particular workboard
• Notifications – opens Necto’s notification tool (scheduler reporting)
• Add to Favorites – add current workboard to favorites workboards list
• Advisor – opens Necto’s advisor tool (users that view current workboard also viewed other workboards and similar
workboards)
• Topics – opens a list of available topics that can be associated created to the current workboard
• Remove snapshots – remove the view in the workboard according to the slicing performed by the sender of the discussion
message
• Print properties – opens a set up window of printing properties (page settings and auto fit)
• Export – exporting current workboard to PDF, Image, Email
7. Ribbon – Visual Insights (VI)
Available when an insight is opened
• Show – switches current component (gridchart) to an insight visualization
• Mode – opens a selection of 3 insights modes: Revelation, Exception, Handpicked
• Max to Show – displays up to 40 possible insights as per to mode selected
• Settings – opens insights setting section (left pane)
• Dimension selector – opens dimensions selection window for the component that insight is performed
• Layout – opens insight possible layout: show only grid, show only insights, show insights and grid
• Show insights for date – enables the user to select periods of dates (manually defined, last year, last quarter, last month,
last week, last day) which are then impact on the insight displayed
• Exploration mode – enables the user to explore new insights or to analyze insights that were found
• Explore now – execute the Exploration mode that was selected
• Show – execute one click insight functionality
• Condition – Enables the user to select the desired threshold for executing one click insight feature
8. Ribbon – Visual Insights (VI) - Continue
Available when an insight is opened
• Parameters – display Insights parameters (e.g. number of periods to go back, show trend line, chart period)
• Select – enables the user to select the desired infographics that will visualize the insight
• Actions – enables the user to create edit an action on an insight
• Drill to Data – displays current insight value in a crosstab
• Find related – select a member in a dimension on a crosstab and then find the relevant people which are related to that
member
• Cause Effect – start a process of finding related measures that are contributing to decreaseincrease of values relavant to
the desired insight
• Copy – copy an insight to an email or a supported application as an image
• Show – opens discussion pane
• Start – start a discussion
9. Ribbon – Social
Available when a workboard insight is opened
• Add Friends – add users with whom you want to collaborate. Once friends are defined, they will be available in the Social
ribbon of the workboards
• Share – opens Outlook to share as a link the workboard as an email
• Discussions – opens the discussions pane to collaborate with users friends
• Like Unlike – indicates if the user likes the workboard or not
• Show – show hide comments that were added into the workboard
• Public – creates a public comment (exposes to everyone who has access to the workboard)
• Private – creates a private comment which is exposed only to the user who commented
• Drag to add comment – dragging the comment to a desired component specific cell
10. Ribbon – Analyze
Available when a workboard insight is opened
• Show – execute one click insight functionality
• Condition – Enables the user to select the desired threshold for executing one click insight feature
• Filter – enables to filter the desired threshold by displaying the results applicable for the threshold selected only
• Show workboard for a date – slicing the values in the current workboard to last yearquartermonthweekday
• Show slicers – showhide the slicers in the task pane
11. Ribbon – Design
Available when a workboard insight is opened
• Toolbox Components – dragging a component (view, text, HTML, Map, Parameters, Infographics) to an existing workboard
• Parameters – Define a parameter (dimension, numeric range, exception, values filters, pick list) that will impact
workboards dimensions and measures
• Actions – enables the user to create edit an action on a desired component
• Scripts – opens a Java script code window to effect Necto events
• Show scrapbook – drag components to an area where the user can reuse them to a current different workboard
• Hidden Components – show hide components which the user decided not to display them on a workboard
• Show – select navigation bar placement
• Manage – opens a window to control on slicers and parameters to show on the navigation bar
• Style – Define the look and feel for a component, including ability to create a title for a component
• Delete – delete the current component from the workboard

• Dimension selector – opens dimensions selection window for a component
• Layout – shows the current component as a grid only, chart only or chart and grid, as well as rotate and setting options
• Actions – enables the user to create edit an action on a desired component
• Chart type – opens the available chart types display in a component
• Legend – shows the chart legend
• All columns – impacts on columns crosstab when the view is loaded
• All rows – impacts on rows crosstab when the view is loaded
• Manage formulas – opens the formula pane to edit a formula effecting the component
• Manage exceptions – opens the exception pane to define and manage exceptions on a component
• Show percent – show not show percent values in a component
• Percent format – if the show percent is set to “Yes”, user can select the desired percent format from the drop down list
• Show percent and values – show percent and values in a component
• Measure – select desired measure to be displayed in a component

• Format – select the desired format of the measure
• Export – save the current component to a PDF, Excel, Image or copy to a clipboard
• Data properties – show hide advanced data properties on the left pane

• Level – select current members levels to show for the current dimension
• Grand totals – show hide current grand totals for a dimension

• Members – filter the current dimension to show selected members
• Sets – select an OLAP set that was defined for a selected dimension
• Remove – remove the filter from the current dimension to show all members
• Show hidden – show hide members for the selected dimension
• Show all – show all hidden members in the selected dimension
• Standard – show members with their parents preceding them
• With totals – show members and their parents with the totals

• Flat – show a single members column without showing their parents
• Members properties – display members of a dimension that have properties defined in the data source
• Add before – add a dimension before the current dimension

• Replace – replace current dimension with another dimension
• Remove – remove current dimension

• Current – displays current available members
• Ascending – sort ascending currently selected members on the grid
• Descending – sort descending currently selected members on the grid
• Remove – remove sorting from the grid
• Selected highlighted – filter the dimension to show only selected members
• Expend to level – expends the currently selected dimension to show selected members on a certain level
• Drill Across – cross drill from the highlighted members from another dimensions’ selected level
• Remove – remove the filter from the current dimension to show all members
• Reorder – reorder a dimension rom each sibling group
• Format – format the current member on a selected dimension
• New – create a quick formula based on selected members or create a custom formula from scratch
• Edit – edit a formula based on selected members
• Remove – remove current formula based on selected members

• Hide – hide members that are selected on crosstab dimensions
• Show Hidden – unhide members that are selected on crosstab dimensions
• Show All – show all hidden members on crosstab dimensions
• Find related – find related users which are related to a member on a crosstab dimension
18. Ribbon – Visuals
Available when a component is selected
• Current – select a row or a column on a grid
• Grid – unhide members that are selected on crosstab dimensions
• Rows/ Columns – selected the desired visual to show on the entire crosstab or selected columnsrows
• Parameters – modify current parameters for the selected visuals
• Show values – show hide cells values when visuals appear
• Edit – edit the desired visual
• Remove – remove current visual from the workboard
• Remove All – remove all available visuals from the workboard
19. Ribbon – Format
Available when a component is selected
• Chart/ Grid – show chart grid formatting options
• Inherit – inherit formatting from the original Necto skin, otherwise formatting will be customized by the user
• Data cells – format the selected data cells in a grid
• Font – change the current font displayed in a grid
• Colors – change the current colors as appear in a grid
• Alternate color – change the parameters direction, apply color to Axis
• Cells size – change the cell size (when the title name is long)
