Corona virus 2019 nCoV

  1. 1. Presented by:- Mr. Pankaj Kushwaha Ms. AnURpa Tomar & Ms. Palak Agrawal Bundelkhand University Jhansi Corona Virus
  2. 2.  Discovered in the 1960s.  The earliest ones discovered were infectious bronchitis virus in chickens and two viruses from the nasal cavities of human patients with the common cold that were subsequently named human corona virus 229E and human corona virus OC43.  Other members of this family are SARS-CoV in 2003, HCoV NL63 in 2004, HKU1 in 2005, MERS- CoV in 2012, and 2019-nCoV in 2019; most of these have been involved in serious respiratory tract infections.
  3. 3.  "coronavirus" is derived from the Latin corona and the Greek κορώνη (korṓnē, "garland, wreath"), meaning crown or halo.  A coronavirus is a kind of common virus that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. most corona viruses are not dangerous.  Most CoV spread the same way other cold-causing viruses do: through infected people coughing and sneezing, by touching an infected person's hands or face, or by touching things such as doorknobs that infected people have touched.  Coronaviruses can cause multiple system infections in various animals and mainly respiratory tract infections in humans, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).  At present, information regarding the epidemiology and clinical features of pneumonia caused by 2019-nCoV is scarce.
  4. 4. Corona viruses are named for the crown-like spikes on their surface. There are four main sub-groupings of corona viruses, known as alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. Common human corona viruses I. 229E (alpha corona virus) II. NL63 (alpha corona virus) III. OC43 (beta corona virus) IV. HKU1 (beta corona virus) Other human corona viruses I. MERS-CoV (the beta corona virus that causes Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS) II. SARS-CoV (the beta corona virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS) III. 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

  6. 6. In December 2019, a pneumonia outbreak was reported in Wuhan, China. On 31 December 2019, the outbreak was traced to a novel strain of corona virus, which was labeled as2019nCoV by the World Health Organization (WHO). As of 6 February 2020 (09:41 GMT), there have been 565 confirmed deaths and more than 28,339 confirmed cases in the in 28 countries.

  9. 9. After the virus enters the host cell and uncoats, the genome is transcribed and then translated. A unique feature of replication is that all the mRNAs form a “nested set” with common 3′ ends; only the unique portions of the 5′ ends are translated. There are 7 mRNAs produced. The shortest mRNA codes for the nucleoprotein, and the others each direct the synthesis of a further segment of the genome. The proteins are assembled at the cell membrane and genomic RNA is incorporated as the mature particle forms by budding from internal cell membranes. MultiplicationofCoronavirus
  10. 10. Infected cells become vacuolated, show damaged cilia, and may form syncytia. Cell damage triggers the production of inflammatory mediators, which increase nasal secretion and cause local inflammation and swelling. These responses in turn stimulate sneezing, obstruct the airway, and raise the temperature of the mucosa Pathogenesis of nCoV
  11. 11. There are no FDA-approved diagnostics for 2019-nCoV. Diagnostic Emergency Use Authorizations (EUAs):  FDA requests that diagnostic test sponsors interested in potential EUA for tests to detect 2019- nCoV contact CDRH-EUA-Templates@fda.hhs.gov for further information and templates. Also see: How to Submit a Pre-EUA for In vitro Diagnostics to FDA  On February 4, 2020, FDA authorized emergency use of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel. For additional technical information and fact sheets, see: Emergency Use Authorizations (Devices).
  12. 12. So far no specific medicine and no vaccine has been made for corona virus.
