Important points of As You Like It. Themes : It has various kind of themes like Love, Cruelty, Usurpation, Loyalty, Unselfishness, Forgiveness and Repentance. Each theme has its own importance and they help to carry forward the play. But the main theme is L OVE HEME and Shakespeare has got mastery in developing it.
Title of As You Like It Shakespeare took the hint for the title from Address to the Gentleman Readers which worked as prefix to Rosalynde by Thomas Lodge If You like IT So which became As You Like It. The title suggests that the play is to please all tastes. It is a sparkling blend of fantasy, romance, wit and humour.
Plot Construction It has complex plot  construction. It has one main plot of Orlando and Rosalind and there are three sub plots of Oliver and Celia, Silvius and Phebe and Touchstone and Audrey.
Craftsmanship of Shakespeare. In the first place there is confusion as regards to the time of Duke Senior’s banishment.       “It is the work of  There are many contradictions and improbabilities in As You Like It.        playwright fully master of his art, yet contemptuousos  probability and recklessly careless of construction.
As You Like It as a Romantic Comedy. The romantic comedy is a blend of romance and comedy which may not be entirely free from some tragic happenings. The play has a basic theme of passionate love. It catches the fancy of audience and makes an instant appeal to the emotions. Phebe remarks           “Dead shepherd, now I find              thy saw of might,             ‘who ever lov’d that lov’d not at             first sight?’ Carries a lot of wait.
