3. Materials 9-inch (22.5-cm) glass pie plate Modeling clay 1cup(250 ml)tap water Liquid cooking oil Food coloring Spoon Timer helper

4. Steps of Investigation Part 1 1. We made the modeling clay into a divider and placed it in the middle of the pie plate. 2. We filled one half with oil and one half with water. 3. Put 2-3 drops of food coloring into the water than stir with the spoon. 4. Take out the divider and watch the water and the oil for five minutes. 5. Empty out the water and oil. (After five minutes:) (after two minutes:)

5. Steps of Investigation Part 2 Put the clay divider in. Now put ½ cup of water and a full cup of oil into the pie plate. Remove the divider. Wait five minutes. (after 2 minutes :) (after 5 minutes:) Put the clay divider in. (after 5 minutes:) Now put ½ cup of oil and a full cup of water. (after 2 minutes:) Remove the clay divider. Wait five minutes.

6. Results and Conclusions A front is two air masses that collide. We learned that the oil is less dense than water so it goes over top of the water. When a warm air mass and a cold air mass collide they create a front. We learned four types of fronts, warm front, cold front, stationary front, and occluded front. When the leading edge of cold air masses that advance to the area occupied by a warmer air mass it is called a cold front. Warm fronts are the leading edge of a warm air mass moving into a place occupied by colder air. A Stationary front is when the colliding fronts don’t have enough power to move into an area. An occluded front is when a cold front over takes a warm front.

The bottom right is an occluded front which is when the cold front overtakes a warm front.

When it gets humid the warm air and droplets move up the vapor condenses and makes up droplets and clouds and that is what causes the rain it usually happens on mountains.

9. What We Learned About God God made fronts to make certain climates have hot, cold, and severe weather to make the life there be able to survive. In our investigations we learned that God made many different fronts to change and effect the climates of weather. We learned that God makes specific weather at the right time to make the seasons weather what they are supposed to be. God makes every front to enhance life on earth.
