About us
The Academic Staff Development department supports university lecturers in planning,
facilitating and evaluating teaching and learning in higher education.
We offer two programmes, The Higher Diploma in Higher Education and Training (HDHET), a
formal qualification, and the Teaching Development Programme (TDP), a non-formal CPUT
certificate programme.
In addition, the Academic Staff Development department offers a range of workshops for
academic departments and faculties.

Workshops
The Academic Staff Development department offers workshops to departments and faculties
on a variety of issues, such as:
- Assessor training (HEQF Level 8)
- Curriculum development;
- Higher education research;
- Moderator training;
- New teachers’ toolbox;
- Problem-based learning;
- Resource-based teaching.
