Recent experience 2014-present
Since 2015, I was Consultant Wellsite Geologist for HUNT OIL and PETROFAC
companies, for 700 Burcioaia Deep and Tecuci South 1 (Hunt ) and 125 Calugareasa,
126 Calugareasa (PETROFAC).
Responsibilities as wellsite geologist are preliminary drilled cuttings sample analysis
and reservoir evaluation, supervision of sample collection, supervision of geophysical
data collection and distribution to client, formation tops and casing point picks,
geosteering of production wells and well monitoring in critical sections, supervision
and liaison with services companies including wireline logging, mudlogging, MWD,
coring (slimhole, extended coring and freeze core) and paleontologists,
communication with client regarding all Geoscience related issues, report writing and
presentation, compilation of logs on the rig and in the office.

2. As wellsite geologist, we had the following responsibilities:
 Responsible a well site geological data acquisition, well site interpretations and
correlations with offset wells.
 Delivering the Daily Geological Report according the office’s schedule.
 This report has to contain both geological data/ interpretation and related
operational information to Operations Geologist. This reporting includes daily
geological report (DGR), drilling progress according to Drilling Program and
well’s logs (Master Log, Drilling Log, Mud Log, Pressure Log) and post-job
reports (egg: cores report, sidewall cores reports, wire line logging reports as
required. It will also includes other ad-hoc reporting and collaboration with the
Operations Manager as required (egg: agreement for selection of core point,
casing point depths etc).
 Geological work will include cuttings description, shows and gas evaluation,
selection of core points (& / or sidewall core), core sample handling and
description, well site log interpretations, selection of geological casing setting
points, picking of formation tops, establishing first geological limits, selection of
hot shot samples, geochemical samples etc.
 Liaise with well site drilling staff (especially Company Man), and on well site
provide geological input to operational issues as required.
 Supervision and quality control of all aspects of well site geological operations,
and formation evaluation contractors (e.g. mud logging, coring, LWD and wire
line logging, bio stratigraphic contractors). It is the well site geologist
responsibility to call MWD, LWD, wire line logging or other service companies,
whenever is needed to modify the well’s progress.
 This will include also writing the Mud logging weekly, QAQC reports, and
reports on other contractors as required, as well as signing off service sheets
for the contractor, to record the service provided, as required.
 Responsible for abnormal pressure detection interpretations through
conventional methods with Mud logging and drilling data, plus specialist
pressure data if obtained.
 Maintain an understanding of well path and borehole condition, and if relevant
form interpretation of borehole instability from pressure or tectonics, based on
lithology, lag times, cavings etc.
 Compilation of weekly and monthly reports on well geology and operations,
and well results, as required.

3.  Responsible for well’s deviation data.
 WSG is directly responsible about respecting Landing and Steering Plan, in
order to ensure that final instructions are given at the correct time.
 The WSG has to follow the drilling parameters (ROP, RPM, WOB, to be
attentive at drilling breaks), corroborated with cutting samples and with MWD
and LWD data, to make sure the well remains in the target to section TD.
 The WSG has to assimilate all the data which includes: all LWD data (las and pdf
1:200 and 1:1000 formats), detailed lithological data (MUST personally
examined and described samples, shows data, gas data, losses data, drilling
parameters data micropalaeontological data if available. notes such as a
general trend to drift right/left up/down (may indicate harder/softer layer
above/below), points where stopped drilling/ POOH (as log values may change
in this section), thoughts, etc.
 Accomplishing and updating the Gas Interpretation, which offers precious
information about the oil, gas, condensate reservoir, to estimte the Gas-Oil,
Oil-Water contacts by distinctive gas compositions, collection of correct and
true Gas Readings (from Detector and Chromatograph) exactly synchronized
with the Total Depth, a precisely localization of these readings according to the
Lithology and the ROP, layers localization for Production Test, achieving of a
detailed Hydrocarbon Composite Log.
 Contribution to geological part of final well report to include: sample analysis,
hydrocarbon show report, composite log, etc.
 Participate in well related meetings, such as pre-spud or wrap-up meetings, as
required.

4. 2007 – 2011 Operation Geologist and Wellsite Geologist for OMV
As Operations Geologists, the main responsibilities that we had were the following:
 Responsible a well site geological data acquisition, well site interpretations and
correlations with offset wells.
 Implement and monitor the geological part ofthe well program, in cooperation
with the Drilling Department, to ensure well objectives are safely met.
 Be responsible for receiving all geological and formation evaluation well data,
logs & reports of well operations; be responsible for their distribution to
relevant parties, laboratories, and archive database, as appropriate (including
reports, log, cores, cuttings samples, fluid samples etc).
 Prepare daily geological update for Branch Office Daily Well Operations
Meeting. Prepare geological updates for management reports, as required.
This may be in the form of Word and Excel reports and GEO logs.
 Be responsible for and provide support to Well site Geologist. This will be by
regular phone and email contact with them, and may include well site visits.
 Liaise with geological formation evaluation contractors, and support functions
in company (eg: Petrophysics, Laboratory) as required; and in discussion with
the Drilling team, , if required, support their call out for work.
 Support Drilling/Operations department with invoice-checking of geological
and formation evaluation contractors.
 Contribute to geological and formation evaluation contractors post-job
performance reviews, when required (mud logging, coring, logging, landing
and steering, etc).
 Prepare geological part (includes all formation evaluation) for ‘Final Well
Report’, which had to include a finalized GEO Composite Log.
 Perform other additional related work as may mutually be agreed between the
Employer and Operations Geologist.
 Perform Gas Interpretation log in Geo or/ and Excel, based on reports between
C1 to C5 (C1, C2, C3, IC4, NC4, IC5, NC5), obtained from mud logging units.
 Based on these reports, for reservoir wells, accomplish a ternary diagram for
every well/ a reservoir, to obtain a fingerprint of reservoir.
 Accomplish ”Landing & Steering” procedure altogether with geo-modeler
engineer and with MWD contractor.

5.  Assist in preparation of future wells, including writing planning documents (eg:
Intend to Drill, Work Program), as required.
 Participate in pre-spud meetings, lessons learnt meetings and other well-
related meetings as required.
 Provide training to junior Operations Geologists.

free), on commercial reservoirs of Moinesti Unit, for calculating the royalty and
