Image nine resonates with me because it represents women "taking a seat at the table" in business
and I believe more women need to be at the table. The photograph showing a woman in the back
row reminds me of a theme from Sheryl Sandberg's book, Lean In, where she urges women to take a
seat at the table versus sitting on the side of the room. After graduating from Smith College, where I
was empowered by intellectually curious and ambitious women, and then transitioning to banking, a
male–dominated industry, I recognized early in my career how few women there were in executive
roles. As a career driven woman I became inspired to change the status quo and promote the career
advancement of women. In my professional career, I have taken several...show more content...
I learned that the bank sponsored employee led groups and I was passionate about creating a group
to support women since one did not exist. I formed and led a founding committee that was successful
in fulfilling the necessary requirements for approval and funding. These responsibilities included
creating a charter and bylaws, demonstrating firm–wide interest, and proposing future programming
to support our mission. After gaining approval and funding from human resources, our founding
committee secured Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to speak at the launch event. The launch for our
group was so popular that we had to a find a new venue to accommodate the 100+ employees who
wanted to attend. Next, we obtained the bank's chief technology officer as our executive sponsor, the
only female executive. After the launch, I went on to lead programming, which included organizing
"Lean In" circles for women at varying levels, a roundtable chat with our president & CEO, and
lunch & learns with our chief technology officer. Within the first year the group grew to over 100

Essay about Personal Narrative Self Identity
Personal Narrative Self Identity Throughout most of my childhood, I have been predominantly
exposed to nothing but the Chinese culture. When my parents first immigrated to the United States
from Canton, China, they rented a small apartment located right in the heart of Chinatown.
Chinatown was my home, the place where I met all my friends, and the place where I'd thought I'd
never leave. I spoke only Cantonese, both to my friends and to my parents. Everyone I was around
spoke fluent Cantonese, and I never spoke anything other than Cantonese. I was pretty much
secluded from the outside world because I never left Chinatown, for I felt this was my home.
However, my parents felt differently. They wanted me...show more content...

was especially hard for me because I had to learn English. I did whatever I could to blend in. I
bought cafeteria food and ate American lunches like bologna sandwiches and peanut butter and
jelly. Most of my friends were Caucasian, and I joined clubs associated with Caucasians. I tried so
hard to fit in so that I would be accepted. I did whatever my friends did. I begged my parents to
buy me trendy clothing and designer labels. The haircut I had was also very similar to that of my
friends. I spoke like them and adopted their ways. I wanted no longer to be Asian. I hated that
part of me. I just wanted to be "American." I hoped that by doing everything they did and
following their ways, I would be accepted despite the fact that I wasn't white. In fifth grade, a new
student was enrolled into my class. His name was Bradford Chin. Bradford reminded me of myself
when I first came– conservative, traditional, and very studious. Not knowing any better, I felt
somewhat embarrassed around him. I believed that his appearance would be a reminder to everyone
of the person I was before. Because of this I ignored and avoided him as often as I could. One day, I
was eating lunch with my friends and I glanced over towards Brad. I noticed he was eating one of
my favorite Chinese pastries,

Personal Narrative My Life
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I
wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I
entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that
college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I
go instead of someone choosing for me.
I have chosen to go to the local community college to get used to the college experience. College

I know this is what I want to do with my life. I want to be a positive influence in the lives of
children. I want to be able to stand up and show the children that it is okay to be yourself and
stand up for what you believe in. I am a well round student. For nine years I was actively involved
in a girls organization. This experience taught me many things. We were actively involved in
community service activities, for which I received the Silver Award. ( The second highest award
in the organization.) I learned about the value of friendship and patients with others. This
organization first introduced me to my future career. I was also involved for three and a half years
in a student government club on campus. In this club I learned many life lessons. One of which
was the value of hard work. I was one of the few people that organized the Junior/Senior Prom of
2000. My responsibilities included planning corranation, buying and organizing decorations,
planning the busing schedule, booking the photographers, fundraising, ect. This taught me about
hard work. But the best part of it was going to Prom knowing I was one of the only reasons that it
happened. As far as school goes, my schedule is very diverse. I am taking child development lab,
which is a class where students from my high school can go to the local elementary schools and
work one on one with the students. I have work in the elementary school for two and a half years. I

Narrative Essay I step my foot into public school for the first time ever my freshman year, not
knowing a single person other than my brother. Prior to my freshman year, I was homeschooled.
The school feels really big at the time and it's very overwhelming. As I walk around I see people
hugging, reuniting, and saying, "oh my gosh I have missed you!" All I am worrying about is
what people are thinking of me like, does she have any friends, or she looks like a loner. I am
getting nervous and more nervous every second that passes. I decide I need to go straight to my

the day going into 5th period. As I walked in I see a girl I already met and I wanted to run and give

to sit that period, or who I was going to talk to. I probably looked like the happiest person in the
world with a big smile on my face. As I am smiling as I say, "hello, Claire right?" She says, "Yes!"
We sit together, exchange social media usernames, and numbers. Later, I go to 6th period, my
science class. When we come in the teacher says to talk with people to sit in alphabetical order. I
am placed next to a kid named Dominic Thomas, and his buddy is sitting on the other side of me.
They were acting like I didn't exist, and getting in my personal space. Later, the teacher says, "The
person sitting at your table will be your lab partner." That's when I found out Dominic Thomas will
be my lab partner for the quarter. I did not know what was coming for me. Finally, 7th period here I
come. Now this class was one crazy class, with some crazy people, but it was all good because I get
to leave after this period. The bell rings and I am out of there. Leaving school I am feeling many
emotions, I am happy to leave, excited to tell my mom about all I experienced that day,

How My Family Challenged My Identity
Growing up surrounded by idealized American values and my mother's traditional
Chinese–Vietnamese principles challenged my identity as a first–generation Asian American. I
excelled in school. I pushed myself to join programs such as Paideia, an English course integrated
with history to attain higher levels of critical thinking. Despite being academically independent, my
good grades and interest in English demonstrated how well I understood the language. Cantonese, the
language I used to communicate with my mom, was an entirely different story. Because my mother
would work night shifts and then sleep during the day, we could barely spend any time together,
creating a lack of communication. I eventually lost my fluency in Cantonese. During Christmas,

Literacy Narrative: Where Would I Be Myself?
It's crazy to think to myself that about this time last year I never would have thought I would be the
person I am today. I have grown in many ways I thought were impossible, and gained experience
that shaped me into who I am right now. One thing that stands out to me the most though, as I sit
here in my dimly lighted room writing my literacy narrative, is that I have learned to not only enjoy
fishing, but to love it. Being outdoors, hiking, fishing, etc., have never been something I have
enjoyed, or ever been willing to learn. I always thought to myself, "why waste my time outside
getting all sweaty when I could say inside with the AC and do my makeup?" but oh have things

"You're right," I began, "Maybe fishing isn't so bad after all." I laughed as I went over to my pole

Something that you will never forget. It's something that makes you who you are whether it is
good or bad to makes you special. I know it's hard to believe that one event could change your
whole life but I promise you it can. A major life changing event happened to me on July 20th,
2011. This is the day that my youngest sister Carly was born. On this day my whole life was
changed and it will never be the same again. July 20th I said good bye to my old self and started
taking steps to become the person that I am today. My whole story started the day my mother told
me that I was going to have another sibling. The day that my mother told me was a day that changed
my life forever. I was in shock and I couldn't believe I was going to be a big sister again. There was
so many emotions going through my mind. I didn't know how to react to the news. The main emotion
I was feeling was anger, I wasn't happy about having another sibling. But the closer it got to Carly's
do date my emotions started to change and I became very excite and looking forward to this new
chapter of my life. I was ready to see what my future had instore for me with this amazing little

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward
reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure
but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit
discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I
enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in
my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into
the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content...
You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was
intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing
are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't
personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the
most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and
professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to
write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to.
Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am
assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find
myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this
would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the
majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and
therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume
every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Personal Narrative: Defining Myself
Currently I am a year away from a bachelor's degree, and on my pathway, to my degree, I have
written countless papers, therefore I figured writing an autobiography was going to be simple,
but I was surprised at how much I struggled to gather information about myself. It isn't every day
that people confront me and ask me who I really am or who I want to be. It isn't like I can open a
textbook and read them the answers, or flip over my flash cards to find the answer. The reason
the answer is so hard to come up with is due to the reality that life makes us forget who we are,
and when we do take the time to reflect on it, it's like uncharted territory or a chapter in a textbook
you neglected to read before a test. Personally I frequently get caught up in the everyday motion of
life to the point where I...show more content...

Personal Narrative Essay About Suicide
2,474 Days Later December 6th, 2009 I woke up just as I did any other day, not knowing that day
would be a day I would never forget, a day that would change my life forever. My dad had always
been my anchor. Then one day my anchor was broken away from me and I was set adrift. Suicide
had claimed my father's life. As young as I was, I really had no understanding of what had
happened. I just couldn't find an understanding to what suicide really was. Crying on the inside and
outside, I began to gain an understanding as years progressed. I realized how so many people that

Often so many people are taken for granted. You really never know when will be your last time
with someone, and that's the scary thing. People can be gone in a blink of an eye, without any
forewarning. It took me so long to be able to accept the fact; he was never coming home. For
years the thought that he just might be coming home played through my head daily. I lived in
denial. I was too afraid and hurt to accept the fact I simply would never be seeing him again. I
asked God daily, " How could this be part of your plan?". In time I learned to accept that God
really does have a plan. Maybe God needed him more than I did. Over time, I've learned many
different things from this loss. People always say " In time, things will get easier." they never
really do get easier, you just get stronger. Another thing I've learned is that I may never have
closure. There's always going to be the " what if's" and the " if only's", and all the other questions
that'll keep me awake at night. Through this all, I just keep telling myself that God really does have a

Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic

The age of 16 is the prime of being a teenager. It is the age in which some of the most beautiful
events happen and that would serve to remind us how wonderful it was when we were young and
vibrant. At the age of 16, a boy or girl gets to connect with people who may or may not last
forever. The age of 16 is the peak of the adolescent. It is the transition between adolescent and

Memoir
Everyone has their own stories, no matter it is meaningful or not it is their life and their
memories. When I told to write a memoir about languages, I could not come up about any ideas.
So, I ask Professor for help, my Professor told us that everyone has their own stories and it is
interesting, because that is your experiences not ours. People like to hear stories, because it is not
their experiences and they want to know what have you been through. Here are little stories about
myself.
I was born and grow up in China, Tianjin, a big city where just an hour away from Beijing. Since
my mom wants to give me a better living environment, and better chance of education; so, we
decided to move to US. When I moved to the US in 2012, I was only sixteen years old and barely
spoke any English. Even I had learned English for all my school life in China, I still didn't
understand when other talking to me. The new life was totally different, it was tough and
challenging for me. The new language environment and culture differences were giving me a hard
time to fit into this country. When I first came to Chicago; Mother and I went through a great
amount of troubles trying to enroll me in a high school. Many schools turned me down because of
my lack of English skills. They wrote me a letter and send me to an ESL class at a community
college.
As soon as my mother settled me down in a small apartment, she left me to work in another state.
She needs to make money to support me and our family, so I have no choice to live alone by
myself. I was facing the challenge of fending for myself in a totally strange environment, where I
didn't know enough English to ask for help. When I was in China, I never had to cook, shop for
groceries, and walk to school. For the first time in my life, I had to do everything by myself. I had
so little money that I could not afford to eat at restaurants every day. Therefore, I had no choice but
to cook for myself. At first, my mother was the only person I can ask for advice. But when it came
to practice, it felt ten times harder than it sounds to me. I remember practicing cutting on potatoes.
My left fingers were often wrapped with Band–Aids. But I disregarded the pain and kept practicing it

I was taught to be caring and thoughtful; I wasn't taught anything else from anyone other than not to
trust people. I'm the odd ball of my family because I am nothing like anyone. I can say I was also
taught to believe in myself and never down myself because I can accomplish anything. That is
shown through my determination and hard work because if I didn't believe in myself I wouldn't try
as hard. Last but not all, Humanistic approach sums up my personality a little more than
psychodynamic does because it involves nature vs. nurture and that kind of sums it up just saying
that. Environment and Heredity is kind of the main reasons of my attitudes and actions. In the
article, Time–Limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Briggs conducts different forms of
psychotherapy techniques to prove whether things in an adolescent's life effect different adolescents
differently. His study was a success and proved that many adolescents have different interpretations
on the same issue. He read them off different problems and wanted to see how they would interpret
them. He used children in the age groups of 12–17 and it worked out. I think that the different
approaches can be brought together in some circumstances but in my case it doesn't. My personality
makes more sense coming from the humanistic approach. Briggs, Stephen (2010). Time–Limited

when I needed to study and do homework? Why did so many stupid things like watching T.V. or
going out with friends or just mindlessly waste my time on the internet? I felt an awful combination
of disappointment, anger, panic, and frustration....show more content...
I worked so much harder. I began to pay attention in class, studied my notes everyday instead of
cramming the night before the test, participated in class, did my extra credit, and gave it my all.
Soon, people began to notice. My friends said I looked and acted stronger, more driven. My
teachers said they noticed my improvement, saying things such as: "I've noticed the change in
effort you've been putting in my class, I'm very impressed." "You're test grades have gotten
higher, keep up the good work!" These observations from my teachers and peers satisfied me, but
what truly made everything worth it were my grades. In every class I took, my grades shot up at
least 10 percent from the previous semester. I actually learned things in my classes instead of
carelessly writing down notes to spit all the information out on a test before I would quickly and
surely forget it. For once, I was actually happy with my schoolwork. Things were finally working
out how I planned it to be. I felt accomplishment that my hard work finally paid off, but I still kept
in mind that my original goals were still far from reach. Nevertheless, I was happy about all the
things I had changed and improved in the short amount of time I had left. When I first realized
my grades were below my expectations and that I wouldn't be able to go to the school of my dreams,
I was devastated, but at the end, after I worked hard and got the grades I wanted, I was okay with it.
I truly

Example Of Narrative Essay About Yourself

  • 1. Personal Narrative Essay Examples Image nine resonates with me because it represents women "taking a seat at the table" in business and I believe more women need to be at the table. The photograph showing a woman in the back row reminds me of a theme from Sheryl Sandberg's book, Lean In, where she urges women to take a seat at the table versus sitting on the side of the room. After graduating from Smith College, where I was empowered by intellectually curious and ambitious women, and then transitioning to banking, a male–dominated industry, I recognized early in my career how few women there were in executive roles. As a career driven woman I became inspired to change the status quo and promote the career advancement of women. In my professional career, I have taken several...show more content... I learned that the bank sponsored employee led groups and I was passionate about creating a group to support women since one did not exist. I formed and led a founding committee that was successful in fulfilling the necessary requirements for approval and funding. These responsibilities included creating a charter and bylaws, demonstrating firm–wide interest, and proposing future programming to support our mission. After gaining approval and funding from human resources, our founding committee secured Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to speak at the launch event. The launch for our group was so popular that we had to a find a new venue to accommodate the 100+ employees who wanted to attend. Next, we obtained the bank's chief technology officer as our executive sponsor, the only female executive. After the launch, I went on to lead programming, which included organizing "Lean In" circles for women at varying levels, a roundtable chat with our president & CEO, and lunch & learns with our chief technology officer. Within the first year the group grew to over 100 active Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I have substantial background knowledge pertaining to the field of special education, more specifically the mild, moderate, and severe student populations. I am currently carrying out my eleventh year of employment at San Bernardino City Unified School District, as a moderate to severe education specialist. My experience as a special education teacher has generated opportunities for professional growth and development, as I am able to effectively educate and manage youth with moderate to severe disabilities. In addition, I am a doctoral candidate, working on obtaining a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, San Bernardino. My desire to obtain a doctorate degree stemmed from my passion to best serve students with disabilities, for I aspire to create policies and procedures that will leave a positive impression on the essential stakeholders. I am an esteemed resource to any educational organization, as I demonstrate expertise in the following areas: special education policies and law, positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBiS), applied behavior analysis (ABA), composing and conducting professional developments, restorative justice practices, curriculum design, research and data analysis, program evaluation, executing collaborative Individualized Education Programs, and Behavior Intervention Plans. In conclusion, I support the notion of proactive interventions and provisions, as they create effective pathways to a higher quality of life for students with disabilities, therefore supporting each student, their families, the surrounding community, and district needs are my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay about Personal Narrative Self Identity Personal Narrative Self Identity Throughout most of my childhood, I have been predominantly exposed to nothing but the Chinese culture. When my parents first immigrated to the United States from Canton, China, they rented a small apartment located right in the heart of Chinatown. Chinatown was my home, the place where I met all my friends, and the place where I'd thought I'd never leave. I spoke only Cantonese, both to my friends and to my parents. Everyone I was around spoke fluent Cantonese, and I never spoke anything other than Cantonese. I was pretty much secluded from the outside world because I never left Chinatown, for I felt this was my home. However, my parents felt differently. They wanted me...show more content... Anne's, a Catholic school that consisted mostly of Caucasian. Although I am a quick learner, it was especially hard for me because I had to learn English. I did whatever I could to blend in. I bought cafeteria food and ate American lunches like bologna sandwiches and peanut butter and jelly. Most of my friends were Caucasian, and I joined clubs associated with Caucasians. I tried so hard to fit in so that I would be accepted. I did whatever my friends did. I begged my parents to buy me trendy clothing and designer labels. The haircut I had was also very similar to that of my friends. I spoke like them and adopted their ways. I wanted no longer to be Asian. I hated that part of me. I just wanted to be "American." I hoped that by doing everything they did and following their ways, I would be accepted despite the fact that I wasn't white. In fifth grade, a new student was enrolled into my class. His name was Bradford Chin. Bradford reminded me of myself when I first came– conservative, traditional, and very studious. Not knowing any better, I felt somewhat embarrassed around him. I believed that his appearance would be a reminder to everyone of the person I was before. Because of this I ignored and avoided him as often as I could. One day, I was eating lunch with my friends and I glanced over towards Brad. I noticed he was eating one of my favorite Chinese pastries, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Narrative My Life Essay Personal Narrative My Life I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me. I have chosen to go to the local community college to get used to the college experience. College life can be an exciting time but at the same time it can be a challenge. I feel that starting out at the community college would be a better chose than "jumping" into life at a...show more content... I know this is what I want to do with my life. I want to be a positive influence in the lives of children. I want to be able to stand up and show the children that it is okay to be yourself and stand up for what you believe in. I am a well round student. For nine years I was actively involved in a girls organization. This experience taught me many things. We were actively involved in community service activities, for which I received the Silver Award. ( The second highest award in the organization.) I learned about the value of friendship and patients with others. This organization first introduced me to my future career. I was also involved for three and a half years in a student government club on campus. In this club I learned many life lessons. One of which was the value of hard work. I was one of the few people that organized the Junior/Senior Prom of 2000. My responsibilities included planning corranation, buying and organizing decorations, planning the busing schedule, booking the photographers, fundraising, ect. This taught me about hard work. But the best part of it was going to Prom knowing I was one of the only reasons that it happened. As far as school goes, my schedule is very diverse. I am taking child development lab, which is a class where students from my high school can go to the local elementary schools and work one on one with the students. I have work in the elementary school for two and a half years. I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Narrative Essay Examples Narrative Essay I step my foot into public school for the first time ever my freshman year, not knowing a single person other than my brother. Prior to my freshman year, I was homeschooled. The school feels really big at the time and it's very overwhelming. As I walk around I see people hugging, reuniting, and saying, "oh my gosh I have missed you!" All I am worrying about is what people are thinking of me like, does she have any friends, or she looks like a loner. I am getting nervous and more nervous every second that passes. I decide I need to go straight to my classroom, but I have no idea where to go. I finally make my way to my classroom, then I sit down, and the bell rings. "The day is just beginning," I think to myself....show more content... I am halfway through the day. After this long day it's still not over yet, I am just half way through the day going into 5th period. As I walked in I see a girl I already met and I wanted to run and give her a hug, I was so excited to see someone I already knew. I didn't have to worry where I was going to sit that period, or who I was going to talk to. I probably looked like the happiest person in the world with a big smile on my face. As I am smiling as I say, "hello, Claire right?" She says, "Yes!" We sit together, exchange social media usernames, and numbers. Later, I go to 6th period, my science class. When we come in the teacher says to talk with people to sit in alphabetical order. I am placed next to a kid named Dominic Thomas, and his buddy is sitting on the other side of me. They were acting like I didn't exist, and getting in my personal space. Later, the teacher says, "The person sitting at your table will be your lab partner." That's when I found out Dominic Thomas will be my lab partner for the quarter. I did not know what was coming for me. Finally, 7th period here I come. Now this class was one crazy class, with some crazy people, but it was all good because I get to leave after this period. The bell rings and I am out of there. How My Family Challenged My Identity Growing up surrounded by idealized American values and my mother's traditional Chinese–Vietnamese principles challenged my identity as a first–generation Asian American. I excelled in school. I pushed myself to join programs such as Paideia, an English course integrated with history to attain higher levels of critical thinking. Despite being academically independent, my good grades and interest in English demonstrated how well I understood the language. Cantonese, the language I used to communicate with my mom, was an entirely different story. Because my mother would work night shifts and then sleep during the day, we could barely spend any time together, creating a lack of communication. I eventually lost my fluency in Cantonese. • 7. Literacy Narrative: Where Would I Be Myself? It's crazy to think to myself that about this time last year I never would have thought I would be the person I am today. I have grown in many ways I thought were impossible, and gained experience that shaped me into who I am right now. One thing that stands out to me the most though, as I sit here in my dimly lighted room writing my literacy narrative, is that I have learned to not only enjoy fishing, but to love it. Being outdoors, hiking, fishing, etc., have never been something I have enjoyed, or ever been willing to learn. I always thought to myself, "why waste my time outside getting all sweaty when I could say inside with the AC and do my makeup?" but oh have things change, and ever since this summer, my love for fishing has grown into...show more content... I smiled, as my brother threw it back in the water. "Good job Kenz, that was amazing!" My brother said as he high fived me. "You're right," I began, "Maybe fishing isn't so bad after all." I laughed as I went over to my pole and started to re bait it and did so the rest of the night, but may I say, that shark wasn't just the catch of the night, but the catch of my life; hooking me on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Example Of A Personal Narrative Essay Personal Narrative Have you ever had something happen to you that changed your life forever? Something that you will never forget. It's something that makes you who you are whether it is good or bad to makes you special. I know it's hard to believe that one event could change your whole life but I promise you it can. A major life changing event happened to me on July 20th, 2011. This is the day that my youngest sister Carly was born. On this day my whole life was changed and it will never be the same again. July 20th I said good bye to my old self and started taking steps to become the person that I am today. My whole story started the day my mother told me that I was going to have another sibling. The day that my mother told me was a day that changed my life forever. I was in shock and I couldn't believe I was going to be a big sister again. There was so many emotions going through my mind. I didn't know how to react to the news. The main emotion I was feeling was anger, I wasn't happy about having another sibling. But the closer it got to Carly's do date my emotions started to change and I became very excite and looking forward to this new chapter of my life. I was ready to see what my future had instore for me with this amazing little girl that was about to come into my life. The day of July 20th,2011 was the day that my life changed forever. • 9. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Personal Narrative: Defining Myself Currently I am a year away from a bachelor's degree, and on my pathway, to my degree, I have written countless papers, therefore I figured writing an autobiography was going to be simple, but I was surprised at how much I struggled to gather information about myself. It isn't every day that people confront me and ask me who I really am or who I want to be. It isn't like I can open a textbook and read them the answers, or flip over my flash cards to find the answer. The reason the answer is so hard to come up with is due to the reality that life makes us forget who we are, and when we do take the time to reflect on it, it's like uncharted territory or a chapter in a textbook you neglected to read before a test. Personally I frequently get caught up in the everyday motion of life to the point where I...show more content... So on my journey to define myself and who I am today I have discovered multiple characteristics that have gone unnoticed for a very long time. • 11. Personal Narrative Essay About Suicide 2,474 Days Later December 6th, 2009 I woke up just as I did any other day, not knowing that day would be a day I would never forget, a day that would change my life forever. My dad had always been my anchor. Then one day my anchor was broken away from me and I was set adrift. Suicide had claimed my father's life. As young as I was, I really had no understanding of what had happened. I just couldn't find an understanding to what suicide really was. Crying on the inside and outside, I began to gain an understanding as years progressed. I realized how so many people that are smiling on the outside can actually be hurting on the inside.Growing up, my dad and I were pretty close. We'd watch old western shows every Saturday morning. At that time, I thought it was one of the...show more content... Often so many people are taken for granted. You really never know when will be your last time with someone, and that's the scary thing. People can be gone in a blink of an eye, without any forewarning. It took me so long to be able to accept the fact; he was never coming home. For years the thought that he just might be coming home played through my head daily. I lived in denial. I was too afraid and hurt to accept the fact I simply would never be seeing him again. I asked God daily, " How could this be part of your plan?". In time I learned to accept that God really does have a plan. Maybe God needed him more than I did. Over time, I've learned many different things from this loss. People always say " In time, things will get easier." they never really do get easier, you just get stronger. Another thing I've learned is that I may never have closure. There's always going to be the " what if's" and the " if only's", and all the other questions that'll keep me awake at night. Through this all, I just keep telling myself that God really does have a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Descriptive Essay About Myself I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better understanding of why I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be a different person than I am today. I was born inAberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County Texas. Aberdeen and Fort Bend both have great opportunities but differ in many ways. One way in which they differ is that Fort Bend is very culturally diverse while in Aberdeen most of...show more content... Her family communicates to one another using spanish or sometimes english. I have always grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them. Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another Opportunity I am grateful for is the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents has signed me up and insisted I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Narrative Essay About Me Narrative Essay about me The age of 16 is the prime of being a teenager. It is the age in which some of the most beautiful events happen and that would serve to remind us how wonderful it was when we were young and vibrant. At the age of 16, a boy or girl gets to connect with people who may or may not last forever. The age of 16 is the peak of the adolescent. It is the transition between adolescent and young adult hood (Botwinick No.Page.). One realizes that adulthood is soon kicking the door and it is a time that one strikes a difference between good and bad choices. At this crucial age, my life took the most drastic turn ever. I moved from the Kenya, Africa to theUnited States. The feeling was totally the most confusing. At such an age...show more content... Everything would be such a new and exciting experience. I would be traveling in the air for about 16 hours. I had so many questions in my mind. The day came and my curiosity of the travel ended. I landed in the United States. The first scene was exciting and amusing as I had anticipated. I had never seen so many white people in life. Every child looked like a doll. Some people were too tall. The first thing that came to my mind was a sense of freedom. Life suddenly changed. I was in another country so developed and so different from Kenya, that I almost thought heaven was either alike or just a little better. I was afraid to speak. I could only feel bold to speak to my mother because I thought only she could understand anything I said. I could overhear people speak but could not comprehend most of what they said. I was not used to people speaking English with such a soft and quick tone. Slowly the reality of how new the place was new to me started hitting me. I could not speak freely and neither did I hear exactly what people were talking about. I did not have friends. I had now moved to a new school. Even though I could see other black kids, I had the feeling that everybody else knew that I was from Africa. I was afraid to speak because I did not trust my words. What if I said something and everybody looked at me with weird faces. It was not what I expected. Everything intimidated me. The school system there was very different from back in Kenya. • 15. Example Of Autobiography About Myself Memoir Everyone has their own stories, no matter it is meaningful or not it is their life and their memories. When I told to write a memoir about languages, I could not come up about any ideas. So, I ask Professor for help, my Professor told us that everyone has their own stories and it is interesting, because that is your experiences not ours. People like to hear stories, because it is not their experiences and they want to know what have you been through. Here are little stories about myself. I was born and grow up in China, Tianjin, a big city where just an hour away from Beijing. Since my mom wants to give me a better living environment, and better chance of education; so, we decided to move to US. When I moved to the US in 2012, I was only sixteen years old and barely spoke any English. Even I had learned English for all my school life in China, I still didn't understand when other talking to me. The new life was totally different, it was tough and challenging for me. The new language environment and culture differences were giving me a hard time to fit into this country. When I first came to Chicago; Mother and I went through a great amount of troubles trying to enroll me in a high school. Many schools turned me down because of my lack of English skills. They wrote me a letter and send me to an ESL class at a community college. As soon as my mother settled me down in a small apartment, she left me to work in another state. She needs to make money to support me and our family, so I have no choice to live alone by myself. I was facing the challenge of fending for myself in a totally strange environment, where I didn't know enough English to ask for help. When I was in China, I never had to cook, shop for groceries, and walk to school. For the first time in my life, I had to do everything by myself. I had so little money that I could not afford to eat at restaurants every day. Therefore, I had no choice but to cook for myself. At first, my mother was the only person I can ask for advice. But when it came to practice, it felt ten times harder than it sounds to me. I remember practicing cutting on potatoes. My left fingers were often wrapped with Band–Aids. But I disregarded the pain and kept practicing it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay on Me Myself and Personality Traits Me Myself and Personality Traits When asked to describe myself I never know what to say, but I should know myself the best, right? I like to look at myself as a genuine, thoughtful young lady. I'm a hard worker; I believe nothing is ever handed to you so you have to go get it. I worked hard to get to this point of my life and working even harder to get to the successful and graduate part of my life. I care more for some others than I do myself but I have a huge nonchalant attitude. I don't really show anger or sadness much I always smile because I'm optimistic about life. I look at life as if something bad comes along, no need to dwell on it you can't take it back so just move–on and improve what you did wrong if it's possible....show more content... I was taught to be caring and thoughtful; I wasn't taught anything else from anyone other than not to trust people. I'm the odd ball of my family because I am nothing like anyone. I can say I was also taught to believe in myself and never down myself because I can accomplish anything. That is shown through my determination and hard work because if I didn't believe in myself I wouldn't try as hard. Last but not all, Humanistic approach sums up my personality a little more than psychodynamic does because it involves nature vs. nurture and that kind of sums it up just saying that. Environment and Heredity is kind of the main reasons of my attitudes and actions. In the article, Time–Limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Briggs conducts different forms of psychotherapy techniques to prove whether things in an adolescent's life effect different adolescents differently. His study was a success and proved that many adolescents have different interpretations on the same issue. He read them off different problems and wanted to see how they would interpret them. He used children in the age groups of 12–17 and it worked out. I think that the different approaches can be brought together in some circumstances but in my case it doesn't. My personality makes more sense coming from the humanistic approach. Briggs, Stephen (2010). Time–Limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for Adolescents and Young Adults. • 17. Example Of Personal Narrative Essay I was born and raised in Canton Ohio. I had a lot of trouble focusing on my classes when I went to school. I had six brothers and sisters and we were from a low income family. I had a sister, Debbie, who was a slow learner and went to a special school. I also have a brother , Eddie, who is mentally disabled and blind. As of now he is in an assisted living program in Ohio. After I moved to Utah in 1979 I found it really hard to get a job. This was my first time away from my large family. After many years out here in Utah , I meant Gene, we had a child together out of wedlock. I moved in with him and we lived together for about 34 years now. After our son moved out at the age of 21 years old , I was diagnosed with ADHD, by my doctor, Dr. Rinehart....show more content... It was a lot of fun and the instructors gave me more time to get the assignments in. Moving to Utah was different for me. Everyone I meant was Mormon. I was raised Evangelical. I stayed with a Mormon family at first and I went to church with them. I couldn't agree with there beliefs. One of my strong points is that I have always had a deep sense of God, I have always prayed a lot. Once I was able to get a job, I ended up with a Mormon roommate. She was really hard to live with. She never seem to smile and she seem to look down on me so that didn't last long. I got to the point where I got a second job just to stay away from her. A Page 2 homeless man gave me a puppy while I lived with her and when she decided to go back home she took my puppy with her. I was so hurt. I have always had a pet, my whole life. When she went home I got another apartment and later another roommate. This one was raised Mormon but didn't live it. For some reason that kind of helped our relationship and we got along pretty well. Later I meant my son's Father, and I started to get my act together. I found out the reason I had trouble learning was because I had ADHD, and I got treatment for it and went back to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Personal Narrative: I Found Myself It was almost 3 years ago that I found myself in a rather strange dilemma. I was bored with blogging and all the gimmicks that you had to do in order to be good at it. This concept did not work for me. I wanted something that inspired creativity in me and in others. So I started experimenting with posting cartoons, pop culture artwork, internet memes, and videos. Not only was I having fun, I was learning to curate content. Another door that was opened was partnering with artists who were animators, cartoonists, and illustrators. My friend Tim Engstrom created a custom artwork for the header and the sidebar. It wasn't long before my clients, friends, and family were reading the blog. What I learned was that this project was more than inspiration, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Narrative Essay Example Pamela Essay 1 Sitting at my desk at home, a crushing feeling crept up on me. I didn't know what to think. I'm not going to make it, am I. It was already midway through junior year of high school, and having just calculated my GPA requirements for many of the colleges I had wanted to go to, I realized that my grades were not even close to what I expected them to be. I guess I had been in denial for so long that I let them slip this far. How could I have let this happen? Where was mymind when I needed to study and do homework? Why did so many stupid things like watching T.V. or going out with friends or just mindlessly waste my time on the internet? I felt an awful combination of disappointment, anger, panic, and frustration....show more content... I worked so much harder. I began to pay attention in class, studied my notes everyday instead of cramming the night before the test, participated in class, did my extra credit, and gave it my all. Soon, people began to notice. My friends said I looked and acted stronger, more driven. My teachers said they noticed my improvement, saying things such as: "I've noticed the change in effort you've been putting in my class, I'm very impressed." "You're test grades have gotten higher, keep up the good work!" These observations from my teachers and peers satisfied me, but what truly made everything worth it were my grades. In every class I took, my grades shot up at least 10 percent from the previous semester. I actually learned things in my classes instead of carelessly writing down notes to spit all the information out on a test before I would quickly and surely forget it. For once, I was actually happy with my schoolwork. Things were finally working out how I planned it to be. I felt accomplishment that my hard work finally paid off, but I still kept in mind that my original goals were still far from reach. Nevertheless, I was happy about all the things I had changed and improved in the short amount of time I had left. When I first realized my grades were below my expectations and that I wouldn't be able to go to the school of my dreams, I was devastated, but at the end, after I worked hard and got the grades I wanted, I was okay with it.
