  1. Social media is a great tool for small business owners to prove they can perform like big businesses – offering a customized setting for their target market. While certainly big companies will have many more fans, followers or friends – in relation to business size, small business owners can have the same impact. Social media helps to level the playing field in the area of marketing. We’ve all heard of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Foursquare but really how long is it going to be around. Is it worth your time as an SBDC to develop a training program on any of these platforms? Is it worth your clients time to delve into the world of social media marketing? Let’s take a minute to watch a short video on social media marketing. This video provided by Erik Qualman helps to display the integration of social media into our every day lives.
  2. Through our new social media seminars we are offering small business owners we have seen a number of established clients becoming reengaged. We have been able to continue to consult with these clients that we might not necessarily be able to keep up with as frequently or possibly we wouldn’t see until they had a problem in their business. Lucky for us, we have had experiences when they come in for social media marketing or website optimization and we are able to point out other areas that should be of a concern. We have also seen a number of new clients – larger clients. While the definition of the term small business reaches into businesses employing 500 employees, we all know that the number of bigger small businesses that we assist trails those with 10 – 20 employees or less.
