WHAT IS DESIGN FICTION?
DESIGN FICTION IS A DESIGN PRACTICE AIMING AT EXPLORING AND
CRITICISING POSSIBLE FUTURES BY CREATING SPECULATIVE, AND OFTEN
PROVOCATIVE, SCENARIOS NARRATED THROUGH DESIGNED ARTIFACTS.
Edward Bellamy introduces the
concept of Credit Cards in the year
1887 within his book “Looking
Backward: 2000”. Credit Cards
became mainstream in 1940s
CREDIT CARDS
Jules Verne talks about space travel
and landing on the moon in his Book:
From the Earth to the Moon (1865).
This became reality in 1969.
LANDING ON MOON
In 1964, Isaac Asimov’s essay “Visit
to the World's Fair of 2014” imagined
what technology—and humanity—
would be like 50 years later. He did
predict the advent of wireless
technology.
