3. Project Management for Sustainable
Development (PM4SD) – get certified!
• APMG have been working with FEST and providing exams since January 2014
• Designed for programme managers, project managers and those aspiring to work
within the tourism industry.
• It also supports those in allied industries to tourism – trade bodies, training
organisations, donors, tourism professionals, tourism students, policy makers,
trainers and researchers within this field.
• The certification aims to support the process of making tourism more sustainable
and responsible.
• Need to establish the use of project management approach.
4. PM4SD and PRINCE2® - delivering successful
projects
• It is key to apply PM4SD to projects within this industry to help grow the sector with
sustainability.
• It is aligned to the PRINCE2 methodology- which is well know and well proven in
delivering projects successfully.
• PRINCE2 promotes use of project plans, reuse project assets, promotes
consistency in project work and helps mitigate perceived problems.
• It also addresses the ‘people’ aspect of the project by facilitating staff mobility and
reduce the impact of personnel changes on project delivery.
• As we know that tourism is as a force for social, economic an cultural change and
this helps those working within the sector ensure benefits for visitors, local
communities as well as the stakeholders.
• At present we have 3 main ATOs that are delivering this certification across Europe
and we are excited to have more partners to not only increase the intake for the
certification but also to help those working within the industry to set a benchmark
while delivering projects in a very structured manner – in time and within budgets!
