  1. VIRTUAL REALITY BY-DALSANIA KISHAN [17IT015] -DEDANIA RAM [17IT017]
  2. WHAT IS VIRTUAL REALITY? Virtual reality (VR) is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment. Plainly speaking , its about seeing the imaginary world and not the real one .Seeing ,hearing ,smelling , imaginary world is a simulation running in a computer . The sense data is fed by some system to our brain.
  3. HISTORY OF VIRTUAL REALITY  1950’s visionary cinematographer Mortor Heilig build a single user console called Sensorama. This enabled the user watch television in three dimension ways.  In 1961,Philco Corporation Engineers developed the first HMD(Head Mount Display) known as Headsight.  In 1965,IVAN SUTHERLAND envisioned what he called the “ULTIMATE DISPLAY” (concept including interactive graphics and force-feedback devices).  In 1988 commercial development of VR beggar and in 1991,first commercial entertainment system “Virtuality” was released.
  4. The different kinds of Virtual Reality These different types of devices will all come together at some point to create a complete set of VR hardware. However, there will remain a number of different types of Virtual Reality systems. One way to distinguish one from another will be the mode with which it interfaces with its users. The following are just some of those modes.
  5. TYPES IMMERERSIVE HYBRID SYSTEMS NON-IMMERSIVE SYSTEMS
  6. IMMERSIVE SYSTEM Immersive virtual reality (immersive VR) is the presentation of an artificial environment that replaces user’s real-world surroundings convincingly enough that they are able to suspend disbelief and fully engage with the created environment.
  7. HYBRID SYSTEM Hybrid reality, sometimes referred to as mixed reality, is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time.
  8. NON IMMERSIVE SYSTEMS Non Immersive systems is anything that doesn’t alter your location or reality. 2D applications like Quora, or Facebook, allows you to watch video but it doesn’t add you to the location and allow you to interact.
  9. APPLICATIONS OF VIRTUAL REALITY BUSINESS TRAINING ENGINEERING AND DESIGN MEDICAL ENTERTAINMENT
  10. BUSINESS Virtual Reality is used in number of ways by business sector as following:  Virtual tours of business environment.  Training of new project.  A 360 view of a product.
  11. TRAINING  Virtual Reality environments have been used for training simulators.  Examples include flight simulators battlefield simulators for soldiers , paratrooping etc.
  12. ENGINEERING AND DESIGN VR is widely used in engineering and designing process as-  It gives better understanding of designing and facility changes wherever needed.  It helps to reduce the time and cost factor. Example-building construction , car designing.
  13. MEDICAL  Healthcare is one of the biggest adopters of virtual reality which encompasses surgery simulation , phobia treatment, robotic surgery and skill training.  VR finds an application in nursing , desntistry and health issues for the disabled.
  14. ENTERTAINMENT  The entertainment industry is one of the most enthusiastic advocates of virtual reality, most noticeably in games and virtual worlds.  Virtual Museum, e.g. interactive exhibitions  Gaming  Virtual theme parks
  15. CONCLUSION Virtual Reality is a growing industry PC and specialized hardware are getting better and faster because of development in VR. Huge demand for VRML programmers in near future. Revolution in gaming industries .
