INTRODUCTION

Pro-e wildfire is the leading product development solution for any manufacturing
industry. The software is developed and supported by the parametric technology
corporation (PTC), based in United States.

Pro-e tools are user friendly. The term “Parametric” means that design operations that
are captured, can be stored as they take place. They can be used effectively in the
future for modifying and editing the design. These types of modeling help in faster and
easier modifications of design.

System requirements:-
1 – Microsoft Windows XP/Vista

2 – 512 MB Ram

3 – 1.2 GB Disk Space

4 5000 MHz CPU fan

5 – NTFS file system



When any set of physical properties determine the behavior of an
object, it can be defined as a parametric. This type of design allows
us to gather a set of information about the design like mass
properties, a drawing or a base model.

As our philosophy determines our life, the modeling philosophy of
Pro-E includes:

1. Feature Based Modeling: Here a set of features represents a
solid model.

2. Creation of assembly: Here a set of parts represents an
assembly.

3. Capturing design intent: The most advanced and effective
way of implementing our engineering knowledge successfully
into a solid model is a primary duty of parametric modeling.

Unleash the source of knowledge bank by TAP (Think, Analyze and
Plan) action. This will enable you to produce a well formulated
design process.

Types of Features:

1. Base Feature:

- A set of datum planes comprises of a base feature.

- All further geometries will be referenced with respect to base
features.

- On changing base feature, the entire model geometry will
change.

2. Datum Feature:

- Lines, axes, curves and points are considered as datum features.

- They provide sketching plane and contour references for sketched
and referenced features.

- Volume and mass properties are absent in datum feature.

3. Sketched Feature:

- Extrude, Revolve, Blend or Sweep creates sketched feature.

- This feature results in addition or removal of the material.

4. Referenced Feature:

- Round, Holes, Shells and so on are considered as referenced
feature.

Part Design:
The accomplishments of a part design are:

1. Define a base feature

2. Define and redefine construction and base features.

3. Modification of dimensional values.



4. Embedded design intent into the model using tolerance
specifications and dimensioning schemes.

5. Creating pictorial and shaded views of the components.

6. Creating part families.

7. Perform mass properties analysis and clearance checks.

8. List part, feature, layer and other model information.

9. Measure and calculate model features.

10. Create detail drawings of a part.

Other important things to remember are parent child relationship,
capturing design intent, implicit relationships, patterns, explicit
relations and family tables. These points are explained in detail
further.

Assembly Design:
Set of parts and sub-assembly come together to form an assembly.

The accomplishments of an assembly design are:

1. Simplified representation helps in simplifying the view of a large
assembly.

2. Placement of a component part can be done automatically or
manually.

3. An exploded view of the assembly gives a detailed view of the
collective parts and sub assemblies.

4. Clearance check and mass properties analysis can be
performed.



5. Dimensional values of the parts can be modified.

6. Assembly relations are created between component parts.

7. Automatic interchange of parts is possible.

8. Parts can be created in assembly mode.

9. Documentation drawing of the assembly is created.

Detail Drawing Creation:
Drawing can be made of all parametric design models. There is
an association in between the drawing and the model. Any
dimensional changes or deletion made to the drawing or a model
is reflected in both of them.

The accomplishments of a drawing creation are:

1. Add views of the part or assembly

2. Show existing dimensions

3. Incorporate additional driven or reference dimensions

4. Create notes on the drawing

5. Display views of additional parts or assemblies

6. Add sheets to the drawing

7. Create draft entities on the drawing

8. Balloon components on an assembly drawing

9. Create an associative BOM
