How to Hook your Readers
Your Title was a winner and readers are
clicking through to read your article.
Congratulations!!
How are you going to hook readers …
… and keep them reading?
Don’t forget: our attention span is
1% LESS than a goldfish!
We’ve dealt with the “Title”.
Now let’s consider the overall structure
of your article.
A blog is roughly divided into sections:-
(1) Title
(2) Lead paragraph
(3) Image
(4) Body
(5) Conclusion
(6) Call to Action

Blog Appeal!
One of the most important aspects to consider is
how APPEALING your blog is to look at.
If it’s difficult to read, people are going to bounce
straight off.
Points to Consider
➢ SPACE: don’t be afraid to leave plenty of space on
your blog page for an uncluttered look
➢ IMAGES: include images to break up blocks of text.
They’re visually appealing & highly sharable on social media
Wade Harman’s blog is beautiful: lots of white space, clear
text and brand colours only.
Here’s what NOT to do!
➢ Sub-headings: keep paragraphs short by using
sub-headings
➢ Bullet points: make your article ‘scannable’ by
including listing facts or key points. Don’t forget …
FACT ➼ The average person only reads
about 20% of the text on a web page
➢ Text size: aim for text between 14 - 16 pixels
➢ Use CAPITALS, bold & italic font for emphasis
