Securing the future: The library & information profession
1. Securing the Future:
The library and information profession and where we
go from here

2.
3. We’re living in the early days of
a revolution in the ways in which
people use information and
technology in their daily lives.
In the next 20-30 years, every
person, every organisation and
business will need access to
library & information skills and
professional values to succeed.
5. We’re living through an era of great change. As a society, many of our political
and economic certainties have been disrupted. This disruption is ongoing. The
reason why it feels like we’re not on solid ground is because the change is still
underway. What worked 10 years ago isn’t going to work today.

39. There is a bright future for our profession (and your career) in
the heart of an Information Society
This future won’t just happen for us – we have to get out there
and make it happen.
40. The future of the profession is you. You decide how you want
to build on the legacy of 150 years of helping people to
discover knowledge & information to help themselves.
