Bryn Oh is the ghost artist of a Toronto oil painter. My interest in virtual worlds began with an attempt to
create an artist unaligned with a RL identity. The idea was to see if a pixel character could become
successful and accepted as an artist in real life alongside flesh and blood ones. I see what I do in virtual
worlds as the frontier to a new medium with the capability to create unique forms of art.
Since the project began in 2009 Bryn's work has been shown at Nuit Blanche, the World Expo in Shanghai
(Madrid Pavilion), with IBM, in movies such as "My avatar and me" or in projects with people such as
director Peter Greenaway (Big Bang) and artist Stelarc. A Web3D Conference presenter in Paris, France
as well as profiled on RAI TV in Italy and Art21. Bryn exhibits in various Universities worldwide and is also
on the syllabus of many. The subject of three Thesis works (http://ir.lib.uwo.ca/etd/1031/ ) and has three
times received a New Media grant from the Canadian Government. Bryn was written about in Vogue
magazine (Italy) and exhibited at a museum in Rome(RL -Museo in Commune) as well as the Santa Fe
new media festival. Exhibited at the 17th Biennial de Cerveira in Portugal as well as with European
director Peter Greenaway on Dance of Death an installation in Basil Switzerland. Another recent
collaboration with Peter Greenaway and Saskia Boddeke for a show at exhibition hall of the Moscow
Manege Museum entitled the Golden age of the Russian Avant-Garde. Currently exhibiting a retrospective
at the Art & Algorithms digital festival in Titusville, Florida. Upcoming exhibitions (2015) include
"Obedience" at The Jewish Museum in Berlin.

Beth O’Connell, known as Beth Ghostraven in Second Life, is a middle
school librarian on the East Coast of the US, teaching ages 11-14. For
the past 5 years she has been a solo librarian, working without a library
assistant. It’s been like going back in time to the 1960s, when most
school librarians just checked books in and out. This year our district
reinstated that position, so she’s looking forward to getting back to the
21st Century!
Beth began using the virtual world of Second Life to network with other
educators and librarians. Her involved with a variety of special interest

the TESOL / CALL-IS Electronic Village Online for almost 15

  • 16. Bryn Oh is the ghost artist of a Toronto oil painter. My interest in virtual worlds began with an attempt to create an artist unaligned with a RL identity. The idea was to see if a pixel character could become successful and accepted as an artist in real life alongside flesh and blood ones. I see what I do in virtual worlds as the frontier to a new medium with the capability to create unique forms of art. Since the project began in 2009 Bryn's work has been shown at Nuit Blanche, the World Expo in Shanghai (Madrid Pavilion), with IBM, in movies such as "My avatar and me" or in projects with people such as director Peter Greenaway (Big Bang) and artist Stelarc. A Web3D Conference presenter in Paris, France as well as profiled on RAI TV in Italy and Art21. Bryn exhibits in various Universities worldwide and is also on the syllabus of many. The subject of three Thesis works (http://ir.lib.uwo.ca/etd/1031/ ) and has three times received a New Media grant from the Canadian Government. Bryn was written about in Vogue magazine (Italy) and exhibited at a museum in Rome(RL -Museo in Commune) as well as the Santa Fe new media festival. Exhibited at the 17th Biennial de Cerveira in Portugal as well as with European director Peter Greenaway on Dance of Death an installation in Basil Switzerland. Another recent collaboration with Peter Greenaway and Saskia Boddeke for a show at exhibition hall of the Moscow Manege Museum entitled the Golden age of the Russian Avant-Garde. Currently exhibiting a retrospective at the Art & Algorithms digital festival in Titusville, Florida. Upcoming exhibitions (2015) include "Obedience" at The Jewish Museum in Berlin. • 26. Vance Stevens - I've been involved in online learning since way last century, as founder of a movement that became Webheads in Action, still a robust community. I have been a coordinator of the TESOL / CALL-IS Electronic Village Online for almost 15 years and have moderated several 5-week online sessions there ranging from Multiliteracies and MOOCs to Minecraft. The latter has evolved into a thriving community of practice where educators can learn experientially about implementing gamification in their teaching practice and professional development, as well as a few tricks in Minecraft. In 2010, I started a weekly webinar series called Learning2gether. I teach EFL at the UAE Air College in Al Ain, UAE, where I'm fortunate to be working with fine colleagues who have been co-presenting with me in workshops at conferences worldwide.
