Question 4
1. Question 4
How did you use media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
Nazha Sultana Miah
2. What technologies did you use in making your film and recording your
research and planning? (Software, hardware and application)
• Cameras: Panasonic & Nikon
• After Effects
• Wordpress
• MovieMaker
• Tripod
• Lights
• Photoshop
• Microsoft Publisher
• Slideshare
• Prezi
• Powtoons
• YouTube
• Social Networks: Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram
3. Cameras: Panasonic & Nikon
Without a camera there wouldn’t be a film, magazine or
poster. We used an ordinary filming camera like Panasonic for
our film. With no budget we managed to produce clips with
excellent focus and shots. Although, the camera was a regular
camera, we couldn’t achieve depth of field for effective
purposes. However, we decided to use a Digital SLR camera
like Nikon for our magazine and poster image. This camera let
me be creative because I could have a depth of field, good
focus and quality. This allowed me to create fun and unique
images for my ancillary text. As the photographer I didn’t
change the ISO or aperture, I kept the settings on automatic.
Both cameras were easy to use and gather on PC to edit for
the magazine/poster or blog. Our team members all have
smartphones, we decided our mobile phones were not ideal
for filming but maybe for potential images like: cast and crew,
blogging (research and planning) purposes.
5. After Effects
Our editors first used MovieMaker and found it
didn’t have the best features to edit our film with,
but it’s good enough to cut and order clips. Having
an arrange of cuts, speed and black screens we
discovered using After Effects allowed us to
achieve the editing goals we wanted, all on our
PC. It allowed us to be creative by having access to
options like changing sounds,
saturating/contrasting colours to manipulate the
clips or sounds. This software was ideal. Other
members requested using Final Cut Pro on
MacBook’s but due to our accessibility it wasn’t
possible. We could have also used iMovies, but
we thought it was too basic for our needs.
6. Wordpress
This is an Internet sensation to help keep track of your work.
Wordpress allowed me to blog my work step by step, creatively.
It allowed me to add hyperlinks to external work on other
websites like Slideshare, Prezi, Powtoons and many more. It
offers traits to divide my work in different tabs, which made it
easier to find particular work. I managed to section my work;
Film research, Film planning, Film poster, Magazine article and
Final product. Wordpress works as a portfolio for future
references. As I have used Wordpress before, I made
progression as I found it was the best way to document my
work. I researched other blog websites like Blogger and Tumblr.
I found Tumblr was too basic and because I have never used
Blogger before I thought I’d stick to something I already know
how to use to prevent time loss.
7. Help me separate my
work so I know what I
need to get done or what
I have already done.
