- Read Title. My mission and role at this point in life is to help people deliver their best gifts to the world. It is my privilege to assist people in this manner. I came by this mission as a result of occupying other roles that were either confining to me or point blank wrong for me and suffering the consequences. As a result, I suffered. I learned a lot from the good and bad situations I’ve been in and now I want to pass along that information to others. 74% of the population is in a JOB that they don’t like and it’s a shame for the individuals in that situation, their co-workers who have to bear that negativity and the employers who also suffer as a result. The information that I’m delivering is a culmination of my work with special mentors like Mary Morresy who focuses on the heart and spiritual matters (the art) and Rebecca Mone (who is a scientist). I too am an artist and a scientist. As an aside, I am an accomplished cellist, and that makes me an artist, and I have a PhD in Molecular… and that makes me a scientist. Creating an inspirational career is part art and part science. Today we are bringing both worlds together to bring about an inspirational career.
- Our objectives for today. Key words
- It’s funny. People are very pragmatic about their careers. They normally don’t think about them until something is wrong. And… when something is wrong, they don’t think about their careers in a strategic way. Those that do think about their careers in a strategic manner have a special name. They have a special name. That name is “Leader”. Here is the thing. In science there is a law called the law of entropy. Everything is changing. There are market changes that will challenge your job security. There are even corporate changes that challenge your job security. You can not afford to NOT think strategically about your career. Many times people feel as if there is no such thing as Job Security. The truth is that Job Security does exist. Job Security is the ability to always get a job. So the key is… what are you doing to strategically always have a job. And I’m not talking about cutting others down. Don’t get me wrong. What I am talking about is what are you doing to grow yourself , grow your skills, and grow your pocket book so that you can either get that promotion or start that business? The fact is that your oersibak growth is the true manner in which to create job security. This important lesion was taught by my mother.
- Mom-is Amazing. I didn’t really take note of it till I was 40… because I felt my mother did what every mother does. Graduated, got married, had children right away. When I was in 1st grade stared in nursing school Did well and got her BA in science. We owned 2 grocery stores and a deli. She decided to go to medical school Why? Because of two major reasons. She knew she should and she knew she could. This was a time when women didn’t go into the sciences. 1-of 5 women/100 Mom was turned down over and over She had three college bound kids. The stores were doing fairly well, but one was always on the brink. Ready to take us down financially. She was rejected over and over but didn’t give up because she had that knowing When she finally was admitted we decided as a family that we would make it work. My siblings had to say goodbye to our friends and embrace the idea of making new friends. Grandma- (whom I will refer affectional to the peanut gallery) told her she was crazy. But she pursued the dream. Mom taught me the art of creating an inspirational career. She thought me two very important lessons. What defines you… and the belief in possibility.
- The lesson my mother taught me isn’t new. It’s part of the American Fabric. I’d like to study this with you for a moment so that you can see how it apply’s to Mom’s lesion and to your life.
