  2. 2. SINGULAR PRONOUN • A Singular noun means one item only. • Examples of singular nouns are bed, boy, girl, book, house and cat.
  3. 3. SINGULAR PRONUNS  Example : A lizard crawls on top of the rock .  There is only one lizard in the sentence, so the word lizard is a singular noun.  Also, here is only one rock in the sentence, so, the word rock is a singular noun too.
  4. 4. Plural Nouns A plural form of a noun names more than one. It usually ends with s or es.
  5. 5. A Plural noun names more than one person, place or thing  Example : Two rabbits ran through the trees .  There is more than one rabbit, so, the word rabbits is a plural noun.  Also, there is more than one tree, so, the word trees is a plural noun too/
  6. 6. Write P if the noun below is plural. Write S if the noun below is singular. 1. houses 2. baby 3. church 4. tables 5. books 6. bus
  7. 7. Write P if the noun below is plural. Write S if the noun below is singular. 1. Houses P 2. baby S 3. church S 4. tables P 5. books P 6. bus S
  8. 8. Add es to make nouns plural that end with:  s  bus es  x  tax es  ch  bench es  sh  dish es
  9. 9. Add ies to make nouns plural that end with a consonant and a y: lady  lad ies fry  fr ies
  10. 10. Some nouns that end in f or fe change to ves when made plural: calf  cal ves knife  kni ves
  11. 11. Some nouns that end in o change to es when made plural. Some change to s: kangaroo  kangar oos potato  potat oes
  12. 12. Some nouns do not change at all when made plural: sheep  sheep deer  deer
  13. 13. Some nouns become a new word when made plural: man  men goose  g ee se
