DEFINATION  Infertility means to inability to achive pregnancy after 12 months of having unprotected sexual intercourse with average frequency of 3 to 4 times per week with no use of any birth control measures There are two types of infertility  1. Primary infertility: When a person has never been able to conceive, they are said to have primary infertility.  2. Secondary infertility: When at least one previous pregnancy has been accomplished, it is referred to as secondary infertility.
  4. 4. ETIOLOGY Female factors Ovarian factors Tubal &Peritonal Factors Uterine Factors Cervical Factors Vaginal Factors Combined Factors Male factors Defective Speratogenesis Obstruction of efferent Duct Failure to deposte sperm Seminal fluid errors

Risk Factors  Smoking and Excessive alcohol use.  Age (over age 35 for women or over 40 for men)  Over weight  Over exercising  Frequency & timing of sexual intercourse  Mental stress  Radiation Therapy or other cancer treatments  Abnormal menstruation in female  Uterine problems, including endometriosis, uterine fibroids & uterine polyps
