WHAT ARE COMENIUS PROJECTS?
The name “Comenius” has been taken
from the Czech teacher John Amos
Comenius (1592 – 1670),
considered the father of modern
education. He introduced such
revolutionary concepts at the time
as:
- Equal opportunity for poor children
- Opened doors to education for
women
- A departure from dull memorization
towards a more practical instruction.
Objectives of Comenius Projects
Comenius projects form part of the “Lifelong
Learning Programme” of the European
Commission. Their objectives are:
1- Reinforcing the European
dimension in the field of
education
2- Promoting mobility and
cooperation among schools
in Europe.
Objectives of Comenius Projects (ii)
3- Offering students and
teachers opportunities to
learn and work together
on topics relevant for
school education.
4- Supporting
transnational mobility,
partnership and projects,
as well as educational
networks and school
twinning.
Our Comenius Project: Culture and
Environment
Our school's project is
centered around the topic
of Environment and
Culture.
We are learning about the
problems and dangers
that threaten our heritage,
both the natural and the
historical one.
What we do.
- We have partner schools in six European
countries:
France,
Germany,
Latvia,
Romania,
Greece
Turkey.
What we do (ii)
- With these schools, and their teachers and students,
we perform activities related to the protection of
environmental and cultural heritage.
What we do (iii)
Some students
are having the
opportunity to
travel to those
countries, to
meet students
and teachers
and to do
activities
together.
What we do (iv)
- We have an
etwinning project,
a website where
we upload all the
activities we do
and where we can
meet students
from our partner
schools.

poster for our project.
In the afternon we chose the best poster and

his or her Romanian host
In this picture

  • 1. WHAT ARE COMENIUS PROJECTS? The name “Comenius” has been taken from the Czech teacher John Amos Comenius (1592 – 1670), considered the father of modern education. He introduced such revolutionary concepts at the time as: - Equal opportunity for poor children - Opened doors to education for women - A departure from dull memorization towards a more practical instruction.
