Onderzoek

• In hoeverre zijn bepaalde frames te herkennen
  in politieke cartoons en in welke mate komen
  zij voor?
Research design
• Case study: de val van het kabinet Balkenende
  IV (CDA PvdA CU) in 2010
• De missie Uruzgan: PvdA vraagt om een
  definitief besluit van afwijzing van het NAVO
  verzoek om de missie voort te zetten
• Inhoudsanalyse van cartoons in landelijke
  dagbladen én gratis dagbladen
• 5 januari 2010 t/m 6 april 2010
Codeboek
• Onderwerpen: politieke gemeenplaatsen,
  situationele gebeurtenissen, persoonlijke
  karaktereigenschappen en culturele allusies
  (De Sousa en Medhurst, 1982)
• Toon: positief, neutraal, negatief (index)
• Generieke frames: conflict, responsibility
  attribution, morality, human interest,
  economic consequences (Semetko en
  Valkenburg, 2000)
Resultaten
• 871 politieke cartoons, waarvan er 146 gaan
  over de val van het kabinet.
• De vier kwaliteitskranten bevatten het
  hoogste percentage aan politieke cartoons.
• Situationele gebeurtenissen komen het meest
  voor

Conclusie
• Overeenkomsten met tekstuele frames van
  politiek nieuws: focus op conflict/negativiteit
• Grotere focus op acties van politici dan op
  persoon (gevoelens, karakter)
• De val van het kabinet wordt met name
  verbeeld als een tweestrijd
• Er was eigenlijk veel meer aandacht voor de
  Olympische Spelen in de cartoons dan voor de
  val van het kabinet

Hinweis der Redaktion

  1. Bij het CDA is er weinig verschil tussen persoon en partij.Evenals bij de PVV.We zien dat Wouter Bos vaker negatief wordt afgebeeld dan zijn partij.
