Ferruccio Lamborghini
Entrepreneur and Businessman
Lamborghini was born in a small house in Northern Italy on April 18, 1916. His parents were
farmers. As a young man, Lamborghini was drawn more to farming machinery rather than the
farminglifestyle itself. Hisparents wouldoften find him taking machinesapartand putting them
back together. He wasso interested in how the machineryworked,he even built a metal casting
shop in one of the barns on the farm.
His parents saw how much he loved working with machines, and probably to savethe family
farm, decided to send him off to a technical school. After completing his studies, he entered
the Italian Air Forcein World War II. Therehe became the main mechanic for the military
vehicles. He got famous for being able to fix military vehicles with very little replacement parts
and supplies. After the war he returned to his hometown and started converting old war
surplus material into much needed tractors for the local farmers.
Lamborghini tractor businesswas inaugurated in a small garage, but the business gotreally
successfuland had to moveinto larger premises soon thereafter.

The tractor business madehim a very wealthy man, and he started another factory building
air-conditioning and central heating equipment. This additional enterprise made Ferruccio
Lamborghini even moremoney and soon he became one of the wealthiest men in Italy.
To celebrate his tractor business he boughta Ferrari. But after buying the car he felt quite
disappointed with some of the features including inferior clutches and noisy gearboxfor
which, as a loyal Ferraricustomer, he went to meet the owner Enzo Ferrari.
He went to him with his suggestions on features he apparently felt needed refinement and
immediate attention but proud Enzo shrugged off all his complains and rejected even to
consider his offers boasting he probably didn’tneed any advice froma tractor owner.
So whatled to Lamborghini’s astounding success was his own personalability. Lamborghini
followed his passion, building a company around something he did very well, and something
that was by no measureeasy to do. Using his experience in the army, Lamborghiniturned a
small single man company into a sports car giant in only 20 years.

Why FerruccioLamborghiniis my favorite:
He built the most amazing super cars in the world.
He started as a mechanic who used old parts to make vehicles work.
The first tractor that he made was fromthe parts of old military vehicles.
He started to make tractors and they wereheavy duty.
He had such talent that he made his own cars. This was due to the faults he found in the
Ferrarihe bought and the owner Enzo Ferrarididn’tlistened to him. So he made cars that are
much better than any other and areextremely powerful. Their design and aggressivelooks are
unmatchable.
Unlike the owner of Ferrarihe was always pleased to meet people who appreciate the cars
that bear his name.
