1. Global Warming, Climate Change, and Greenhouse Effect! By: Amanda Pursel and Kristina Diefenderfer
2. What is… Greenhouse Effect is capturing heat and keeping the surface of the Earth warm enough for us to live on. Climate Change is a problem that is affecting people and the environment which can occur over any period of time, long or short. Global Warming is an increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere, especially a sustained increase sufficient to cause climatic change.
3. They are all related because they all… Somewhat have to deal with the Earth. Affect human beings. Have harmful outcomes/effects if not handled.
4. Primary cause of Global Warming… Carbon dioxide emissions Expansion of “greenhouse effects”
5. Possible consequences of Global Warming… Greenhouse gases can stay in the atmosphere. Spread of disease. More hurricanes, tsunamis and floods. A lot of money will be wasted, economic damage. Wars will start. Polar ice caps will melt. More fires and wildfires will start. Death by smog. Increased volcanic activity. Animal extinction and attacks.
6. Impacts on the economy… Prices for real estate will raise. Water sport manufactures will benefit. “Green Companies” will benefit. Many businesses will go bankrupt. Ski resorts and companies will no longer exist. Marine life will die off.
7. How can we fight Global Warming? SAVE ENERGY: Choose renewable energy Choose an efficient vehicle Drive smart and less Weatherize your house or apartment Replace your light bulbs with compact fluorescent ones Buy energy-efficient appliances
8. Arguments against Global Warming are… Efforts by state governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are very expensive and threaten to bust state budgets. Reducing greenhouse gasses is very costly and wouldn’t stop Earth’s climate from changing. The IPCC didn’t prove human activities are causing it and most scientists don’t believe.
9. My personal opinion on Global Warming is… It’s definitely a serious issue and it’s a very bad thing that goes on, but I also personally don’t believe that humans should get all the responsibility they do. From what I found out researching was that most scientists believe it does not have to do with human activities. However there are definitely things people can start doing to help prevent global warming from continuing to happen.
