2. Dear Teachers, —All of us, I think—have got to
learn to separate the fear of domination from
the fear of excellence.
3. It is time for teachers to face this problem of
your own inherent fear of strength head-on.
4. Teachers need to organize no just among
themselves, but also with the parents of
their students and, in all possible cases
with the students too. Nothing is possible
unless you organize.
5. This will empower you to take away the fear
and isolation in which so many teachers and
staff members are compelled to work and live.
6. Another inheritance from many misguided
struggles of the past is an inclination to
distrust your leaders, and to do your best to
do what it takes to break them down as fast
as possible and then to drive them out.
7. You should be prepared to strive with all your
hearts to be strong teachers, efficacious adults,
and caring members of my community.
8. If you fail to act, you may lose me as your student
and in the long run, you may also lose your job.
