Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
Marc SABIN
Library Director - SciencesPo Grenoble
2. Mir@bel is a free knowledge
database upon online access to
french journals, reviews and serials
Mir@bel means « sharing information about
online access reviews »
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
3. Mir@bel gives :
- direct link to Full text, Tables of content,
Summaries, Indexation... when they are available
- information about the kind of access
(free or restricted), the coverage...
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
4. Managing directly these informations
is a long and difficult job
that may be done in each library.
The aim is to share this work
Partners get involved in order to validate
Mirabel's informations.
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
5. Mir@bel is supported since 2009
by SciencesPo Grenoble, SciencesPo lyon
and ENS Lyon. We received a financial support
from the Région Rhône-Alpes.
Mir@bel is now realized by 20 french libraries
(Universities and research centers).

7. 2 Webservices developped
to put directly data
from Mir@bel into koha :
- service Rest (for Mir@bel) and
- importation script (for Koha).
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
8. Another example of Mir@bel's informations from Mir@bel web site
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
9. The same Mir@bel's informations on Koha SciencesPo Grenoble Library
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
10. The same Mir@bel's informations on Koha SciencesPo Lyon Library
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
11. Direct link from Mir@bel to website review (full text in JSTOR)
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
12. To put Mir@bel's data into Koha :
1/ Match your serials (give the local identifier of each serials in
Koha)
2/ Connect to Rest webservice (only for partners)
3/ Configure the script Mirabel-to-Koha.pl
4/ Configure your Marc grids : define the Marc
fields where Mir@bel's informations are saved
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
13. How does it work ?
The Rest Webservice gives Mir@bel's datas in
XML format, sorted by selected criteria.
The first criteria to use is your Mir@bel partner_id in order to collect only data
you need (reviews, access, ...).
Then you can sort datas by : reviews, editors, kind of access (free or restricted),
kind of online service (full text, TOC, summary, …).
The Rest Webservice allows also sort by deleted datas.
The Rest Webservice is free (under GPL - General Public Licence).
But the access is restricted to partners whom share the work and keep Mirabel's
data up to date.

14. The 2nd Webservice Mir@bel to Koha
developped for Koha by Biblibre
Two Scripts : import and delete
The import script must be configured (config.yml) in order to define the Marc
grids that Koha used for Mir@bel.
The scripts perl can be programmed in a crontab (update daily, weekly...)

15. Configure Marc grids into Koha
SciencesPo Grenoble Library Koha 3.2 ; SciencesPo Lyon Library Koha 3.0.6
Each Library defines the fields for her own needs. Which Marc field and
subfield must be used to display information, ex : full text access,
Ex : Marc field XXX
$a : urldirect | urlservice"
$b: "name" (ex : Jstor)
$c: "access" (ex : free, restricted)
$d: "start – end"
$e: "coverage"
You must add one field for each Mir@bel services to display
(one for the full text, one for the summary, one for the abstracts, etc.).
Koha Conference – June 6 – Edinburgh
16. Manage how Koha display Mirabel data

Or the ISBD display (defined in admin Opac_ISBD system preference).
SciencesPo Lyon uses ISBD display
3 fields are declared in the Marc grids of cataloging :
859 for the Full text ; 380 Tables of contents and 381 for Indexation.
For each field, the following subfields are declared :
$a URL ; $b Name ; $c Access ; $d Start End ; $e coverage.
