10. Yuri Gagrian first man into space 1961 Yuri G was the first man into space. I remember when my mom went to the kitchen to watch the news. I think that was the coolest day of my life.
11. Mickey Mantle $75,000 contract Mickey Mantle was the highest paying baseball players in 1961. He signed a contract that was worth $75,000. I hope when he comes to my town, I get to meet him.
12. Johnny Carson hosting tonight show 1962 Johnny Carson hosted the “tonight show” in 1962. This show got on my nerves. Although he had some of my favorite people on his show. Like Elvis. That was my favorite show. I personally hated this show though.
13. Cuban Missile Crisis 1962 Kennedy orders a blockade of Cuba. My dad wouldn’t let me talk to him until Kennedy was done talking on TV. Witch by the way was 2 hours.
14. Alcatraz jail is closed 1963 I remember the day that this jai had gotten closed. I lived about 3 miles from the Golden Gated bridge. I am kind of happy that it is closed.I feel a little safer now.
15. 4 cent stamps 1963 I REMEMBER WHEN STAMPS WERE ONLY 4 CENTS. I USED TO SEND LETTERS OUT ALL THE TIME.
16. Mary Poppins 1964 Mary Poppins won 8 Oscars this year. This was my favorite movie. I would watch this movie to the point were my mom had to brake it. That was the saddest day of my life.
17. China's first atomic bomb test 1964 This is when my brother went to war. He was looking because he saw a atomic bomb go off. My brother had brought me back this picture of these two people. He just couldn’t figure out what they were doing.
18. The Beatles first visit to America 1964 I was so excited when I heard that the Beatles were coming to America. I love this one.
19. Pink Panther movie 1964 The pink panther was one of my top movies in the 60’s. It doesn’t top Mary Poppins though.
