It is the job of the school principal to oversee all aspects of his/her campus including technology integration.  Although there are multiple parties both above and below the principal in the organizational chart, it is ultimately the principal’s responsibility to ensure that the campus is meeting its stated technology goals and adhering to the campus improvement plan.  If any party in the chain of command is not performing its job appropriately, it is the principal’s task to step in and speak on behalf of the students about the importance of meeting campus technology goals.,[object Object],Professional Development Session #1:,[object Object],Survey/Baseline Data,[object Object],Distribute to each teacher a well-constructed survey to assess their current level of knowledge regarding campus technology initiatives.,[object Object],Ask each teacher to list all “technology-based” activities they have utilized in their classroom over the previous year.,[object Object],Compare teacher-submitted data to the campus STaR chart data to gauge similarities.,[object Object],Construct a password-protected discussion board on the campus webpage to allow teachers to post additional thoughts between professional development sessions about technology programs.,[object Object],Professional Development Session #2:,[object Object],Continued Learning – Using Data to Succeed,[object Object],Principal, ITS, and lead teachers will lead teachers in discussion of the importance of data-driven instruction.  Information will be provided on the ease of access to objective assessment data for each student.  Teachers will be expected to analyze their classroom assessment data and incorporate objectives into their lesson plans which “fill in the gaps” in student learning as the data suggests.,[object Object],ITS and campus technology teacher will demonstrate the use of web-based and hardware-centered technology tools that teachers may use in their classrooms.  Demonstration will focus on the use of LCD projectors, smartboards, collaborative web activities, and web 2.0 applications.,[object Object],Teachers will collaborate on previously-established message board regarding their continued incorporation of technology innovations in the classroom.,[object Object],Professional Development Session #3:,[object Object],Analysis and Future Growth,[object Object],Teachers will meet in small groups to discuss technology implementation throughout the year.  Groups will consult initial survey data, the previous two years of STaR chart data, as well as discussion board threads posted by teachers during the school year.,[object Object],New technology plan will be recommended by each group, a consolidated plan will be created, and the CIP will be updated as necessary.,[object Object],[object Object]
Teachers will be surveyed at the beginning of the year (prior to plan implementation) and again at the end of the year to examine classroom utilization.
STaR chart data from the prior year will be compared to the current year to analyze level of growth.

Technology Action Plan

  • 1.
  • 2. Teachers will be surveyed at the beginning of the year (prior to plan implementation) and again at the end of the year to examine classroom utilization.
  • 3. STaR chart data from the prior year will be compared to the current year to analyze level of growth.
  • 4. Discussion board posts will be reviewed both for frequency and content. Frequency will serve to indicate “buy-in” of the idea, while content can be analyzed to determine what initiatives were most fruitful.
  • 5. Student assessment data can be cross-compared from year to year and class to class. Particularly, classes with stated “higher levels of technology integration” will be compared to classes with lower levels to determine if student achievement is affected by technology usage.
  • 6. Classroom walk-throughs will be conducted by campus administration, as well as department chairpersons, to ensure that technology applications are being utilized and implemented appropriately in each classroom.
