2. Why did I chose this topic?
As a diver I can say that most of the
diving spots are polluted . Especially
by plastic bottles, witch causes the
death of many rare sea species.
The job of the marine biologists is to
protect the water from pollution,
explore the secrets of the oceans,
study the underwater flora and
fauna and at the same time protect
them. This is actually my dream job
so lets see why the plastic bottles
are so dangerous for the animals
and how can we all help!
3. How actually do plastic
bottles pollute the ocean?
Only a little bit more than 10 % of
the plastic bottles are recycled-witch
means that the other approximately
90% land on the ground or in the
ocean. Consumers know that plastic
water bottles are bad. A study found
that 29% of those who purchase and
drink bottled water say that it is bad
for the environment, BUT ONLY 1 in
4 people have stopped purchasing
bottled water because of it’s plastic.
And the conclusion is that most of
the people need to be more
informed about the situation so they
can help.
4. How can we help?
The thing to remember about
single-use plastic water bottles is:
You can avoid them! You just need
to keep a reusable cup or glass
bottle in your car or bag, and fill it
up on the go. And that’s it! It is so
simple and if we all start doing this
we can save the oceans and prevent
the world from the global warming
because the pollution is one of the
reasons for it to appear.
FUN FACT : Bottled water is
more expensive than
gasoline and costs 2,000
times more than tap
water—switching can save a
lot of money!
