Editor's Notes
Ladies and gentleman“I am an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate individual who is goal driven and keen team player”This is the kind of sentences I read more than 20 times a day in my recruiting job. A standard and general agglomeration of fancy business talk/jargon buzzwords. Usually it includes “motivated, enthusiastic, results-oriented, team player” and so on…
Today my speech is going to be about this fat in your resume, why you should get rid of it, and how.
By the end of the speech, maybe tonight or next time you will be updating your resume, you will remember this “cutting fat” speech and delete 25% unnecessary material of your resume
I will first start by tackling the “Why” you should get rid of it, and then show you how by giving some tips and laying out an action plan.

Most of the time, these buzzwords don’t prove anything. Saying you are a fast learner, have great leadership skills, etc.And sometimes, it does not even mean anything: eg a positive can do attitude… how else can a can do attitude be?
