2. Articulation Organs
The articulation organs are used
to produce the language
sounds, which can be voiced or
voiceless, according to the role
the vocal cords, also called vocal
folds, play or not, when
producing a sound.
3.
4. Voiced and Voiceless Sounds
Feel your vocal cords putting your hand in your
throat. Then produce, in a high voice, a
simple sound: a, c, t, d, etc.
If you feel the cords vibrating then the sound is
voiced.
If you feel the cords at rest, then the sound is
voiceless.
How is the sound t compared with the sound d?
5. In English the
sounds for t and d
have a very
different
articulation than
in Spanish.
6.
7. Why is it so important to
produce
well those sounds?
Because those sounds are
fundamental to pronounce
correctly the past tense forms of
regular verbs, and then be
perfectly understood.
