David Cameron has sent private healthcare and TTIP lobbyist, Lord Hill, to Brussels to look after the UK's interests. But is it the interests of the NHS or those of his friends in private healthcare he has at heart?
3. Lord Hill is a lobbyist,
with links to private
healthcare
• Lord Hill set up the lobby firm
Quillier Consultants.
• Quillier Consultants is now owned
by Huntsworth, a Brussels-based
lobbying firm, specialising in
promoting private healthcare.
• Quillier is employed by Circle
Holdings, is the investment arm of
the Circle group, which became the
first private health firm to run an
NHS hospital when it took over
Hinchingbrooke.
4. Lord Hill has links to the TTIP lobby
• The chairman of Circle Holdings, Michael J.
Kirkwood, is an advisory director on the board
of British American Business (BAB), an
organisation which lobbys on behalf of the
controversial Transatlantic
Trade & Investment
Partnership.
• BAB’s lobbying efforts for TTIP
include backing the group of MPs
cheerleading for the deal.
5. TTIP will hand vast powers to US-based
private healthcare companies
• US-based investors could
potentially sue the UK
Government if they tried to halt
or reverse the privatisation of
the NHS
• Despite massive popular
opposition, David Cameron has
refused to use his veto to ensure
the NHS is excluded from TTIP
6. Commissioners & TTIP
This deal
rocks!
• As a high-powered
commissioner,
Lord Hill will have a
significant say in the final text
of the Transatlantic Trade &
Investment Partnership
agreement that will go before
MEPs.
