There are two types of tundra: Arctic and Alpine. Arctic Tundra is a cold, treeless plain found around the Arctic Ocean in parts of Europe, Asia, and North America. It has low, swampy areas and permafrost that keeps water from draining and forms bogs. Alpine Tundra, though cold, supports animal life and is a scenic landscape. Common animals in the Arctic Tundra include lemmings, voles, and Arctic hares.
