We invite our guests to participate in our green initiatives including the following:
9. Recycling Program Recycling stations are on each floor to invite guests to participate in our green initiatives.
10. Toilet Water Conservation Dual Force™ technology is a powerful water-saving feature only found in STERLING® toilets. Toilets with Dual Force technology include a two-button flushing system that offers a choice between two water levels for every flush: 1.6 gallons or .8 gallons. These options can save an average family of four up to 6,000 gallons of water each year. Even better, all toilets with Dual Force technology meet strict flushing performance guidelines established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense program as well as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) requirements.
11. Saline Swimming Pool The Saline Pool System eliminates the need to add ‘pool-chlorine’ chemicals, algaecides and ‘shock’ chemicals to the water and eliminates the need to manufacture, transport and store ‘pool-chlorine’ type chemicals and instead uses only pure natural salt from the ocean – and then re-cycles that salt indefinitely. Recycling a natural product – what a concept!
12. Native Vegetation Native plants are well-adapted to local conditions, therefore requiring little maintenance once established. They eliminate or significantly reduce the need for fertilizers, pesticides, water, and lawn maintenance equipment. They also often attract beneficial insects which prey upon pests, decreasing the need for pesticides. Native plants reduce air pollution, improve water quality and reduce soil erosion. Using native vegetation, unlike cultivated landscapes, does not require much use of lawn maintenance equipment, a major contributor to air pollution. They improve water quality by filtering contaminated storm water, and reduce soil erosion by stabilizing soils with their deep root systems.
13. Rainwater Collection Our hotel has a Rainwater collection system for landscape irrigation to reduce water usage. The roof was built to collect rainwater, direct the rain water to a tank that is built underneath the parking lot to be used for irrigation.
14. Motion Sensing Auto-Shut off Lights in all Public Spaces Energy efficient motion sensing auto-shutoff lighting switches were Installed in our public spaces to include the business center, public restrooms, fitness center and our executive offices.
