BACKGROUND
All participants at the meeting explained their work in each country, and the topics and
research which they are involved at the moment. It was a very successful "meeting-
point" for sharing experiences and projects.
The meeting shows that psychologists in Europe work in many different fields and with
many specific roles. For instance, they can work as teachers in the university, as
psychotherapists (in rheumatologic teams or alone), helping patients in patient’s
associations, etc.
On the other hand, there are many psychologists that normally do not have the
possibility to travel to the Eular Congress, because they don’t have a sponsor. For
them, it is very difficult to get to know other colleagues, and also for others it is not
easy to know them.
In order to develop some activities for next year, we all agree that it will be useful for
everybody to know other colleagues better in Europe, and not only those who
normally attend the Congress.
PROPOSAL 2011-2012
Objective
To establish an informal way to know “Who is who?” in Europe, in other words, who is
working as psychologists in relation with the rheumatic diseases in each country, what
is their experience, and if they are working in a specific field of a specific rheumatic
2. disease. This information allowed us to contact with other colleagues and share
information, or develop collaborative proposals.
Methodology
To achieve this goal, we decided that each of the psychologists present at the meeting
will send a brief description of their work, some personal data, and a little and informal
description of their area of expertise.
Using a “snow-ball” technique, we will contact with all the psychologists that we know
in our own country, and ask them to do the same.
All this information will be used to create a blog where the information will be
accessible and public.
