  16. 16. How to Season Cast Iron 1. Apply thin layer of vegetable oil to the inside and outside of pan 2. Place upside down on top rack of oven 3. Place foil on bottom rack to catch drips 4. Bake @ 450F – 500F for One Hour 5. Cool and Repeat until you reach a classic Black Patina 6. *If your pan has rust – begin by scrubbing with steel wool to remove the rust, then proceed to step one.
